Actually the computer does make most of the calculations but the winners have to be inserted manually. This thanks to Subvertbeats, whom has done a great job creating this.

We mostly do this after a while because we are indeed pretty busy with upping, normal work etc. Also only a few can enter these results but most important, because we want to give everyone a chance to watch the event first.

We do not like to spoil it for people that have a hard time watching an event because they need to work during day time, because they have a slow connection or whatever reason. We are a community and we care for all. Hence the fact that we also dislike topics on the forum that include results without [Spoiler] in the Topic title.

If you wish to know your own results just make a print screen indeed or just copy the whole lot to your notepad and mark the winners you have chosen (this is how I do it). And once more we will not hand out the winners per member but only the total amount of correct picks :)

So we just ask you to be a bit more patient, even if you might feel you have won the competition this time

If it's mostly a matter of work, I completely understand. This is by far the best online MMA community I've been a part of and I appreciate the work everyone has put in.

As for spoilers, I'm not sure I follow. If someone hasn't seen an event they already have to avoid anything on the web that deals with MMA (news sites, forums, etc.). Why can't they just not check the results threads until after they've seen the event? Am I overlooking something?

I always write my picks down anyway, so I know how I did on a given event. I don't usually win the competitions anyway, but I like to see the overall standings updated because I'm currently #2 and closing in on Kamara666 :)

Like the last sentence in the quote you made of my earlier post mentioned, in case there are spoilers on the forum we add it in the topic title and we request this as well when a non staff member posts this. We really are careful with this and it can even lead to bans when people keep posting stuff that can spoil it for any of us.

Sure some sites will have spoilers but that is what we tend to avoid. Mostly for around a week after the event so I am not sure what you did not get but I will try to explain a bit more...

There are for instance time differences. For some people this can lead to the fact that they have to work when they get the event or there are more events that have been uploaded at the same time. Also some fights are not included in the events we up and can take a bit more time. You can not ask all people to just watch it the same or next day right (this also includes us staff members because we do our best to get you all the events as soon as possible in different formats which can be very time consuming ;) )?

We do not want people to avoid our forum, hence the [Spoilers] in a topic. This way they can avoid only that topic. Sure there will always be risks when we add news a few days after but we try to minimize it as much as possible. This even goes for descriptions/titles in uploads.

This I think is why you also say we are such a good community. Because we care and enjoy to see you all smile even though it can leave you in suspense when it comes to the competition

Now don't bite your nails too far because of the suspense ok ;)

Thanks for the detailed response, but we're not talking about the same thing. This site is excellent in terms of ensuring that spoilers are minimized on the forum.

My point is that there is really no reason to wait 4-5 days before posting the results in the competition thread. If someone hasn't seen the event yet, they should avoid going to the competition thread and looking at the results, just as they should avoid going to the "aftertalk" thread. Just throw a [SPOILERS] onto the competition thread title and you're good to go. People can check the results whenever they get around to watching the event and nothing has been spoiled.

Now if posting the results takes a lot of work and hence the delay, then I completely understand.

There is need for delay because some staff here are in UK like me and Subvert then we have out european staff like Dragonfoxy and helpish...now the comp is done by subvert or helpish normally...sometimes due to their work they dont get to see event untill 2 or 3 days later..so they arnt gonna do a post with results to event they havnt seen it are they, also the results are all done by a system subvert set up but you still need to find a bit of time to put it in a nice thread with links and tables etc.

Also what Dragonfoxy is trying to say is..we try to minimise the chances of spoilers eg someone clicks on event comp by mistake...and not all people like some get the ufc on tv or live they have to wait to get event online and so like foxy said earlier.

Its just the system we use and it works so if it aint broke...

Ah, got it now :) I didn't realize he was talking about waiting for staff to see the event. I thought he meant users. Thanks for the clarification. And thanks again to all site staff - this really is the best MMA community I've ever been a part of. Keep up the good work!

(pepaseed)

That is truly the main reason. Well said pepaseed. And thank you Dragonfoxy for calming people down ;)
Ill explain. For example, I just came back from 10 days travelling and had to watch UFC 115, TUF 11 Finales, 2 x Bellator events, Strikeforce and not to mention the usual MMA shows like insidemma etc as fast as possible so that I now can watch WEC 49 in order to after make the competition results thread. If I would have done the wec 49 now it would spoil the whole event for me. Just like I guess the most of you both me and subverts work with other things and even if I defenitely try to put as much time into the MMA community as I possible can I dont always have time to watch the events right away. (Often because of just that hehe) And also... I tend to wait for a HD 720p or 1080i release if possible and those can be late from time to time.

If you have any suggestions on how we could solve this or if you would like to trial for a forum moderator and help out with the competitions we are the first to welcome you!

:)

Being a MMA fan becomes harder and harder, I almost feel sorry for all the time I have to spend watching all the events ;)
but yea it really cuts into my sleep sometimes, but thats something I do to myself because I love MMA  .

Now im sitting home at the middle of the day because I have to go to the doctor because I displaced a muscle/disk/whatever at work.
so now I have all the time to post and watch events  , everything bad brings something good  .
