Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua’s manager has revealed the new light-heavyweight champion is open to a fight with Anderson Silva.

Shogun used to train together with Anderson Silva at Chute Boxe.

“The motivation is natural as the challenges will come. We have great fights ahead of us, we may fight against Lyoto in the future, a rematch against Forrest Griffin, a fight against Anderson in the future, if it’s UFC’s wishes,” Shogun’s manager Eduardo Alonso told Tatame Magazine in Brazil.

“I would also really like it if Maurício had a chance to fight against the legendary Randy Couture before he retires… There are great fights that may become good challenges and also provide an important financial reward, since now he is the father of [a baby girl]. Shogun is very happy, excited, and his career has entered a good and deserved phase.”

I would love to see both those fights - the Spider vs Shogun one is, of course, a dream match-up and would be so awesome to watch.

Dana said after Shogun's title win that Anderson would have to beat both Sonnen and Belfort before being able to fight Shogun.
