Revenge is a dish best served cold.
K.J. Noons will look to dish out some revenge on June 26 when he debuts for Strikeforce and takes on old foe Charles "Krazy Horse" Bennett in a rematch from a bout the two had in early 2007.
Bennett won their first match-up, knocking Noons out late in the opening round. The loss is one of only two black marks on Noons’ mixed martial arts record.
The rematch was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on late Wednesday evening by Noons. Strikeforce president Scott Coker originally reported the bout to Sherdog.com.
The first bout between Noons and Bennett was bad blood personified, and it's likely this second bout will raise just as much anger between the two lightweights.
When asked about the match-up Noons responded by text message simply saying, "Got to get that one back."
Since their first fight, Noons and Bennett have gone in drastically separate directions in their careers. Noons continued on with EliteXC where he won the 160-pound title, and is currently riding a four-fight win streak. Bennett on the other hand has gone 4-3 and is coming off of a knockout loss to Bobby Green in his last fight in December 2009.
Bennett was set to be part of the Shine Fights 3 card last weekend, but the show was canceled at the last minute.
The June 26 fight card, co-promoted by Strikeforce and M-1 Global, will showcase both Fedor Emelianenko and Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos, and Noons vs. Bennett 2 will be a main card fight on the show. MMAWeekly.com will have more information on the upcoming Strikeforce show as it becomes available.
