Damn that match was intense, couldn't sitt still on my chair and my heart was going like crazy. Had to pause it for a few minutes after round 1 to catch my breath. One of the best fights in ages. The fight had it all. Two strategy's pitted against each other and in the end Machida came out on top. Who ever said Machida was boring.
Serra vs Hughes
Not much to say there, a close match that could have gone either way. Never leave it to the judges.
Sherk vs. Edgar
Huh, what ever has happend to Sherk? He looked so out of it during round 2 and 3.
Foupa-Pokam vs. McFedries
Good stoppage nothing much more to add.
Soszynski vs. Andre Gusmao
I like Soszynski more and more. Never a dull moment in when he steps into the octagon. This guy had the potential to go even further if he just works a little on his ground game where he will eventually end up when he comes across a good ground fighter. Not that gusmao is bad on the ground beeing a black belt in bjj but what was he thinking? Don't ever trade punches with Soszynski. thats always a bad plan.

UFC 98 medical suspensions: NSAC medically suspends nine fighters by MMAjunkie.com Staff on May 26, 2009 at 7:30 pm ET The Nevada State Athletic Commission has issued medical suspensions to a total of nine competitors from this past weekend's UFC 98 card, according to paperwork released by NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer.
UFC 98 took place May 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Suspensions were issued to only two of the night's winning fighters, Kyle Bradley and Drew McFedries. Headliner Rashad Evans, who's suspended until July 23, was among the seven losing fighters who will also serve suspensions.
Evans lost his UFC light heavyweight title to Lyoto Machida via brutal second-round TKO. He's been suspended (with no contact until July 8) for precautionary reasons, which is a customary action taken after fighters suffer knockout losses.
Two of the suspensions, though, can end immediately following doctor's clearance. McFedries (right wrist) and Bradley (right hand) must have X-rays and the doctor's green light. Otherwise, each is suspended until Dec. 10.
The full list of suspensions included:
* Rashad Evans is suspended until July 23 with no contact until July 8 for precautionary reasons. * Drew McFedries must have his right wrist X-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor. Otherwise, he's suspended until Dec. 10. * Xavier Foupa-Pokam is suspended until July 8 with no contact until June 23 for precautionary reasons. * Sean Sherk is suspended until July 8 with no contact until June 23 for precautionary reasons. * Patrick Barry must have his right foot X-rayed and cleared by a doctor. Otherwise, he's suspended until Dec. 10. Even if cleared, he has a minimum suspension until June 23 with no contact until June 14 because of the injured foot. * Phillipe Nover is suspended until June 23 with no contact until June 14 for precautionary reasons. * Kyle Bradley must have his right hand X-rayed and cleared by a doctor. Otherwise, he's suspended until Dec. 10. * Andre Gusmao is suspended until July 23 with no contact until July 8 for precautionary reasons. * Dave Kaplan is suspended until June 23 with no contact until June 14 due to a nose laceration.
UFC 98 salaries: Hughes and Evans combine for $400K of $957K payroll by MMAjunkie.com Staff on May 26, 2009 at 1:50 pm ET Despite losing his title to Lyoto Machida in the night's main event, former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans tied for the biggest reported payday at UFC 98 with $200,000.
Co-main-event winner Matt Hughes, who edged Matt Serra for a decision win, also earned $200,000, $100,000 of which was a win bonus.
MMAjunkie.com (http://www.mmajunkie.com) recently requested and today received the list of official salaries from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which put the night's reported payroll at $957,000.
UFC 98 took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event, which aired live on pay-per-view, drew 12,606 attendees for a gate of $3.4 million, according to UFC President Dana White.
Other top earners from UFC 98 included new champ Machida ($140,000), Serra ($75,000), Chael Sonnen ($50,000) and Brock Larson ($42,000). Evans would have earned an additional $175,000 as a win bonus, and Serra could have doubled his salary with a $75,000 win bonus.
George Roop: $16,000 ($8,000 win bonus) def. David Kaplan: $8,000
Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter's income. They also do not include any other "locker room" or special bonuses the UFC oftentimes pays.
For example, the figures above do not include the UFC's traditional "fight night" bonuses. The UFC awarded $60,000 UFC 98 bonuses to Serra and Hughes (Fight of the Night), Machida (KO of the Night) and Larson (Submission of the Night).
In other words, the above salary figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.

On Monday, the Nevada State Athletic Commission released the post-fight drug test results for the fighters of UFC 98, held May 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Ten fighters were tested for performance enhancers and drugs of abuse following their bouts: Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans, Matt Hughes, Chael Sonnen, Frank Edgar, Brock Larson, Kyle Bradley, Krzysztof Soszynski, Yoshiyuki Yoshida, and George Roop.
All fighters came back negative.
The event saw the light heavyweight title change hands once again when Lyoto Machida knocked out Rashad Evans in the second round. Machida is expected to return in October or November. Evans will fight again in December against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson after they conclude a stint as rival coaches on The Ultimate Fighter: The Heavyweights.
So far, 2009 has been a quiet year for the Las Vegas-based promotion. Karo Parisyan remains the sole fighter to be flagged by the NSAC for illicit drug use. The Armenian-born fighter remains suspended until January of 2010.
