Five more Strikeforce fighters have been added to the roster for EA Sports' mixed martial arts game.
EA Sports MMA will have welterweights Marius Zaromskis, Nick Diaz and Joe Riggs, along with middleweight Melvin Manhoef and heavyweight Bobby Lashley, the video game publisher announced today. All five fighters compete for Strikeforce; Zaromskis is also the welterweight champion for the Japanese promotion Dream.
Although the Ultimate Fighting Championship's Randy Couture stands out as the game's most notable American fighter, most of the names announced so far come from Strikeforce, which has been designated a "premier league" in the game.
Other fighters already announced for the upcoming release include top-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko; Dream lightweight champion Shinya Aoki and his Strikeforce counterpart Gilbert Melendez; and Strikeforce's light-heavyweight and middleweight champions, Gegard Mousasi and Jake Shields.
EA has some catching up to do. Rival THQ's UFC Undisputed 2009 sold more than 1 million units in its first month, according to industry estimates. The 2010 edition of Undisputed is scheduled for a May 25 release.

Here is an update... The four fighters join an official "EA Sports MMA" roster that currently includes Lashley, Shinya Aoki, Hidehiko Yoshida, Cung Le, Gilbert Melendez, Lawler, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, Matt Lindland, Scott Smith, Josh Thomson, Nick Thompson, Brett Rogers, Jake Shields, Frank Shamrock, Fedor Emelianenko, Randy Couture, Renato "Babalu" Sobral, Gegard Mousasi, Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Jay Hieron.
Several other fighters have confirmed their involvement but haven't been announced by EA. For instance, the ESPN.com interview features screenshots of Lashley alongside veteran heavyweight Jeff Monson, who also has not been officially announced for the "EA Sports MMA" title.
Some good names there..Hendo may be put in too..seems strange seeing Randy there.
