Background

One of the latest stars to shine under the BRAVE CF lights is Tae Kyun Kim, an undefeated fighter from South Korea, hoping to become the new Featherweight world champion. ‘’Ares’’, as he’s also known as, will take on Roman Bogatov in the main event of BRAVE CF 64, for the vacant 145-pound strap.

There has been a huge buzz around Kim since he made his BRAVE CF debut in 2020 when he beat the much more experienced and dangerous Brazilian Erick da Silva at BRAVE CF 29. He then continued living up to the hype with a further three-fight win streak bringing his BRAVE CF record to four wins in as many fights, cementing his spot as the current number-one ranked BRAVE CF Featherweight.

He is yet to be beaten on the professional circuit amassing a total of nine wins since his first fight in 2017. What makes Kyun Kim so special, however, is not his unblemished record, but the manner in which he can captivate a crowd and overwhelm his opponent with his go-forward style. Last year, ‘Ares’ wooed millions of BRAVE CF fans across the world as both his fights, against Switzerland’s Husein Kadimagomaev and Kazakhstan's Nurzhan Akishev, were absolute fire-cracker bouts that earned nominations for BRAVE CF ‘Fight of the Year’ award. Not only that, but Kim was also nominated for Fighter of The Year for his two huge performances in 2021.

Now, he will face possibly his toughest opponent yet when he meets number-two ranked Featherweight, Russia’s Roman Bogatov on October 22nd. The purists will understand how precious a match-up this one will be, as the risk-taker Kyun Kim faces the methodical grinder in Bogatov. With contrasting styles, both athletes are undefeated in the BRAVE CF cage, with Roman’s win over Abdulmutalip Gairbekov at BRAVE CF 51 last year also receiving a nomination for Fight of The Year.

Kim is a well-rounded athlete who has dispatched his opponents in every form with three knockouts, three submissions and three decisions - a shining example of the MMA explosion taking place in South Korea. In Bogatov, he may not be the casual fan’s most flashy operator, but for the true fans, the Russian is a sweet treat. He is one of the hardest grinders you will witness in the BRAVE CF cage. The man - who has only ever lost one in his pro career - loves taking his opponents to deep waters, testing their endurance and mental fortitude.

The Fighter Gym athlete’s record confirms his durability with an 84-percent win ratio coming via submission and decisions. Heading into this title fight, the experience factor will play into Bogatov’s hands as he has been in three title fights before where he won and successfully defended a Lightweight title in his native Russia.

These two athletes were initially set to face each other before, however, an injury to the South Korean prevented the fight from happening. What better way to recall the fight than with a title on the line in a scenario where ‘someone’s BRAVE CF 0 has got to go!

Before the Featherweight world title bout, BRAVE CF 64 will feature a huge Bantamweight fight, as number five-ranked Nkosi Ndebele will look to continue his rise up the rankings against Matiss Zaharovs.

Number one Middleweight Abusupyan Alikhanov will be coming in ready to establish himself as worthy of a shot at the vacant title when he takes on Mzwandile Hlongwa. Also featured as part of BRAVE CF 64 is a Catchweight bout between Omar El-Dafrawy and Kevin Ruart, and a Super Welterweight duel between Brendan Lesar and Zagid Gaidarov will also take place.
