Background

On the eve of its fifth year in the industry, LUX returns once again to Mexico City to celebrate, next Thursday, May 26, the event "LUX 022", from the Pepsi Center WTC, bringing with it the dispute of two titles the organization's world championships: the men's Light Weight belt (155 lbs) between the current champion, from Durango, Sergio 'Drako' Cossio and the Costa Rican Edgar 'Cebollero' Delgado; and for the women's Strawweight division (115 lbs), two Mexicans ranked among the best pound for pound in the country, Saray 'Killer Queen' Orozco and Dianita Reyes, both will compete for the vacant belt of the division.
'Drako' and his relationship with CDMX

In previous visits to Mexico City, more specifically during “LUX 016” (September 2021), Sergio 'Drako' Cossio successfully defended his first title defense against a Pepsi Center WTC that was filled with applause after an impeccable guillotine at the minute 1:25 of the first round that put Alan 'Tiburón Blanco' Domínguez to sleep and granted him his permanence in the reign of the division after 19 months of inactivity. It will be the same public that saw him retain his belt that will now see him defend his title as "LUX Fight League Lightweight Champion" again.

'Drako', 31, owns a professional MMA record of 23 wins, 8 losses and 1 draw, and seven of his last eight professional clashes have been on the octagon of the LUX Fight League, beginning his path in the main event of “LUX 002” (February 2018) when he surprised the entire Juan de la Barrera Olympic Gymnasium by defeating American Mike De La Torre, a fighter from the UFC, by unanimous decision.

As of “LUX 008” (February 2020), ‘Drako’ Cossio remains the reigning champion of the lightweight division with a 6-1-0 record within the LUX Fight League. The contender for the title on this occasion will be the Costa Rican Edgar 'Cebollero' Delgado, 33 years old, and with a professional record of 9 wins and 5 losses. Among his most important triumphs is a victory against the experienced Alejandro 'Mandarina' Solano in 2020, a fight that opened the doors for him to add experience within the LUX Fight League.

One of the characteristics that the 'Cebollero' possesses is that of not registering any defeat by completion, that is, he has never lost by knockout or submission. The fight for the title promises to leave the Latin American level of MMA very high.

LUX will have a new queen at 115 pounds

In the co-main event of the night, two Mexican women who have some similarities in their professional careers are presented. On the one hand, Saray 'Killer Queen' Orozco, 30 years old, fighting from Guadalajara, Jalisco, has a professional record of 6 wins and 5 losses, currently ranked number 4 in the pound for pound in all of Mexico (and number 9 in Latin America). Her rival, Dianita Reyes, 35 years old, from Chilanga, with the same professional record (6-5-0) and ranked only four places below Saray in the pound-for-pound ranking in Mexico (8th), and number 17 in Latin America .

Both will dispute the vacant title of the Straw Weight Division (115 lbs) of the LUX Fight League, after the organization announced the vacancy of the belt that Tani Torres had held since August of last year, when he defeated in one of the fights with the most audience in the history of LUX, and only by split decision, to Saray Orozco herself, who will climb back into the octagon for the second attempt to obtain the title that eluded her almost a year ago.

The two championship fights will be played over a total of 5 rounds (5 minutes each) and promise action from start to finish. Will 'Drako' be able to retain his title again and continue on his path to get a chance to fight in the best promotion in the world? Who will be the new queen of 115 pounds and who will be the rivals that will emerge for i
