DREAM 12: Yoshiro Maeda vs Chase Beebe scheduled for Oct. 25http://mmamania.com/2009/10/02/dream-12 ... or-oct-25/DREAM has added a Featherweight showdown between two WEC veterans to its highly publicized inaugural caged fight card. Yoshiro Maeda (25-7-2) and Chase Beebe (12-4) will square off at DREAM 12 on Oct. 25 at Osaka Castle Hall in Osaka, Japan.
DREAM event producer, Keiichi Sasahara billed the bout as “a survival match between fighters who have fallen short in the Featherweight tourney.” On a brighter note, he touted the potential for an enthralling contest, given the experience Maeda and Beebe possess competing in the cage.
A bona fide survival match, Maeda vs. Beebe pits two fighters in need of a compelling, decisive victory.
Maeda barely edged American Top Team prospect, Micah Miller, via unanimous decision in the opening round of the Featherweight GP before suffering a TKO loss to Hiroyuki Takaya in the quarterfinal. He most recently headlined DEEP – “Osaka Impact” on August 30 and notched an unremarkable DQ victory over Kleber Koike.
Beebe has run into a rough patch after kicking off his professional career on a high gear. Currently on a three-fight skid, he lost the WEC bantamweight title to Miguel Torres at WEC 32 and followed up with a split decision loss to Will Ribeiro at WEC 34 before exiting the organization.
After his inexplicable, last-minute withdrawal from his UWC headlining bout against Mike Easton, setback followed him across the Pacific. In his DREAM debut, he suffered a deflating TKO loss to MMA neophyte, Joe Warren in the opening round of the Featherweight tourney.
Maeda, who trains out of Osaka, will be the hometown favorite in this fight. He hopes to bounce back from the recent streak of uninspired performance and make a strong case for the appearance in the Dynamite! Event on New Year’s Eve.
