Hi,

My setup is basically an always on raspberry pi torrent box with a USB flash drive attach for storage and using deluge as my client. I know most of you probably using a proper NAS system or your PC but I thought I'd try this out.

This week I've downloaded ~30Gb of videos and all the torrents completed the download and was seeding straight after, I want to copy the files to my pc as I've downloaded quite a bit. I checked that the files were on the usb flash drive (via SSH) so I stopped the client and un-mount the usb drive (via sudo umount /mnt). I put the usb drive on to my pc and to my surprise I can only see the folders and nothing in there.

I'm a bit annoyed #-o I've just lost quite a lot of videos and I'm confused to understand how the files deleted itself when I checked it was there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi mate,

I understand your irritation. Maybe the file system was corrupt when you removed it, or your computer has a problem reading the files on the usb for some reason. Have you tried mounting it again in your pi? Maybe the files are still there..?

Hi Dent,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

The pi is a bit weird, mounting the usb I see just folders and no video files but after a reboot (only on the pi and not laptop) I can see some files in the folders, rebooting laptop still can't see any files on usb. I transferred some files via SFTP and I think the files are corrupted, all the videos I tried to open with VLC (mp4, mkv) it doesn't play. I see it tries to play (black screen) for a few seconds and then it closes. So I'd say about half the files are deleted even after a reboot, the files which are still there I think are corrupted as I can't open with VLC.

I'm not too sure where to go from here.

If you recheck the existing files and folders against the torrents files in your torrent client you should see what parts are corrupt and they should be able to be re-downloaded.
