I mean why does the UFC always have to play hardball with everything. Its like its not about the sport anymore with them. Its about them having monopoly on mma. I have even seen some sherdoggers honestly beliving UFC is the sport.

I agree with Bas and big John.

Dana has a gameplan. The rest of the world has another.

Give it time and some day it will be inevetiable that the biggest organisations champions meet. Its just too early.

*yawn*

The undisputed world titles for Welterweight, Middleweight and Light Heavyweight are already in the UFC. The Lightweight division could use some of the talent from DREAM, and the Heavyweight division isn't quite complete.

The reason we're even talking about Mixed Martial Arts is because of the UFC. People conveniently forget they helped the sport overcome pressure from Congress, overcome mainstream acceptance, get the sport regulated in most States and continue to grow the sport. There's a reason why the UFC continues to make millions of dollars and put on great fights, and why promotions like EliteXC, WFA, Affliction, the IFL, PRIDE, etc. are dead.

People just like to hate on the UFC, because it's cool to hate on something that is both successful and the most dominant. If there's going to be one single promotion/alliance, it needs to be under the UFC's roof, because it is the biggest stage of them all, and it has done a hell of a lot more to establish the sport of MMA than anyone/anything else. The UFC (rightfully so) is the most recognized brand of Mixed Martial Arts, and that's where the wishful thinking efforts to establish a "world alliance" needs to go.

YAWN...

Its not hate, theres some fighters who are AWESOME who arent in the UFC

How can you be called WORLD champ when there is more competition out there? its just like boxing 100 promotions with different champs, having all these champs does nothing having REAL unifications across the board of MMA is the showing of REAL champs.

It seems if it isnt UFC you arent interested, quite a jaded approach i must say

MMA is MMA the UFC is the UFC, they are 2 different things

The difference is, MMA is not like Boxing at all, because there isn't hundreds of visible MMA promotions with hundreds of titles. If the UFC had viable competition, then the argument that an alliance is needed would have some weight behind it. However, the only other noteworthy titles are those of StrikeForce and DREAM, neither of which are even defended on a regular basis, or have solid divisions (with the exception of DREAM's Lightweight division) backing the belts.

Therefore, the notion that world titles are ambiguous in MMA is a cloudy one at best, because there aren't many titles out there to begin with. Sure, the UFC is missing some notable names from it, but in time, the world-class names will be there, unless they or the UFC have no interest. You can falsely generalize that as me only being interested in the UFC, if it makes you feel better about me disagreeing with you, but the fact is MMA will NEVER be in the disastrous state that Boxing has been for years.

Also, the "MMA is MMA" and "UFC is UFC" argument is an empty one at that. If it wasn't for the UFC, America wouldn't give a remote shit about MMA, whether you like it or not. Some Internet fans don't want their sport to grow and become bigger, but give credit where it is logically and realistically due. If you want an alliance anywhere, the only logical option is to let the UFC be that alliance. Like it or not, the UFC is the biggest name in all of Mixed Martial Arts, and is the main promotion that gets (well-deserved) coverage in the media. It would be incredibly naive to desire a world alliance being formed under any other umbrella but the UFC.

On a somewhat related note, I do believe a minor league for MMA is needed, as it would be a chance for previously unknown or somewhat known names to polish their craft and be called up to the major league (obviously the UFC). The Ultimate Fighter exposes some names to a point, but a full-fledged minor league promotion would be the ideal.

The sport will grow bigger and get bigger than the UFC regardless, people are watching anything thats MMA nowdays and its only matter of time till the UFC has to accept that it doesnt have ALL the best fighters out there. Up and coming fighters jump out in other promotions alot now and thats what makes the sport grow, competition everywhere not a monopoly.

I'm pretty sure the UFC doesn't think they have ALL of the best fighters, or else they wouldn't have pursued Fedor, guys in Affliction and (in the future) Mousasi. They do, however, have 93% of the best guys in the world. That's undeniable.

As I said, a minor league is very valuable and important, and realistically, StrikeForce and DREAM ARE minor leagues. How many people, when they watch Diaz, Shields, Jacare, etc. think "man, they're really good. I hope they go to the UFC someday"? Hopefully, Coker will know better than to directly compete.

Strikeforce will be around for a while, Coker is a smart guy and his fighters respect and stand by him by their own admission all i hear is "Coker treats me really well" im happy Strikeforce is around and it offers a great alternative and forces the UFC to keep its cards stacked

Considering the wealth of talent the UFC has, and some of the upcoming fights, no promotion forces or needs to force them to keep stacking up cards. They're doing just fine, and continue producing the fights we all want to see.
