As has become customary, the UFC will stream live preliminary bouts over the Internet for UFC 131. However, while the promotion has used social networking site Facebook to stream fights in the recent past, it appears the promotion will stream fights on its YouTube channel on June 11.
Five preliminary contests are scheduled to stream on YouTube, which will immediately precede the Spike TV “UFC Prelims Live” special prior to the event’s pay-per-view broadcast. The YouTube stream will mark the first time the UFC has utilized the video-sharing site for a live event in its history.
Five bouts will comprise the YouTube stream, as Nick Ring takes on James Head in a middleweight affair, while Dustin Poirier toes the line against Jason Young at featherweight. Also scheduled at 145 pounds is a battle between Michihiro Omigawa and Darren Elkins. Additionally, Joey Beltran will face Aaron Rosa at heavyweight, while Krzysztof Soszynski locks horns with late replacement Mike Massenzio at 205 pounds.
Headlined by a crucial heavyweight clash between Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin, UFC 131 will emanate from Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
