Nice. Some of the best kicks I've seen aren't in there, and a few that really shouldn't be, are.

Cung Le's for example was a very stylin' kick, but it was a point scorer, not a knock out kick. Hell Shamrock took it full in the face and just smiled at him. Le does that a lot, throwing weak ass kicks that look good but don't do fuck all damage, in some cases less than a good punch. That's how Smith was able to take lots of them and come back in their first fight. In their second, Le's kicks were nowhere near as pretty, but they were devastating, and it only took a few to finish the fight.

Pretty isn't necessarily effective.

Great video. Some awesome kicks indeed. And style sometimes might not be effective but it does make it entertaining. Poor pet though, that was just cruel

I love watching Le fight because he can be stylish or hardcore, as the circumstances require. In Smith he met the "comeback kid", a guy who made the UFC's "Greatest Comebacks" compilation TWICE! So it was a dumb move thinking you could just out score him while entertaining the crowd. Le didn't make that mistake twice.

Where style over substance goes horribly wrong is in Anderson Silva. Sure the guy can beat you up while mimicking the fighting style of other fighters, but his style has become more important to him than winning the fight, and we end up hating him for it.

I hope Silva steps in the ring, walks over and punches and kicks the shit out of Sonnen until he doesn't get up again, and I don't care how ugly it is. At least I will have seen a fight, not some pantomime of a fight!
