The pairing previously met at RCC 8 on December 19, 2020, where Goncharov won via unanimous decision.
An ACA Flyweight Championship bout between current champion Kurban Gadzhiev and contender Azam Gaforov was expected to take place in the co-main event. However, champion Gadzhiev withdrew from both the fight and the grand prix due to injury and was replaced by Alan Gomes in a non-title semi-final bout.
