Guide to build up a ratio with a slow upload speed. First some small definitions. RATIO Ratio is your amount uploaded divided by your amount downloaded. When your downloaded amount is less than the uploaded amount of GB's your ratio will be low. If you download 1 GB and upload 3 GB your ratio = 3.0 Example of how your ratio is displayed SEEDER (S column on tracker) Someone that has the complete file and is allowing others to download it. This is either the uploader or someone that completed the download. Seeders LEECHER (L column on the tracker) Someone that wants a file and is downloading it. Leechers You can see how many seeders and how many leechers there are when you check the details of the file on the tracker. The amount of seeders are mentioned in green and the amount of leechers are mentioned in red like followed: Seeders: 1 Leechers: 12 General Tips and Guidelines for ratio building When you start you will probably have an amount of 0 download and 0 upload GB's. When you start to download a file your download amount will increase causing you to have a lower ratio. When you upload something during the download or after you completed the download (then you are seeder) your upload amount will increase giving you a better ratio. When you have a low upload speed it will be harder to build up a good ratio. Especially when there are people with a fast upload speed seeding this file as well. In this case you can compare it with a glass that needs to be filled by numerous people. Some are using buckets to fill the glass (high upload speeds), some use bottles (good upload speeds) and some use baby bottles (low upload speeds). In the end the glass is full and the one with the buckets poured in the most. You with a baby bottle only squeezed in a few drops. It sounds unfair but it is the reality of torrents. When you reseed a torrent on the other hand and you are the only seeder, its like pouring from a baby bottle, but there is no other so you will get all the upload credit anyways. To make sure you will not be deleted from the tracker due to a bad ratio I would like to give some tips. 1 Make sure your torrent client is set up correctly. If people can not connect to you you can not seed. For more information see a guide about port forwarding. 2 When you are a new member do not start downloading many files right away. Focus on building a ratio. To do this we have made several files freeleech (in details you will see -> Free Leech: This torrent is freeleech so only upload counts!). These files do not effect your download amount! This way you can get files that you can seed without your ratio being effected. When someone else wants this file and you upload it to them your upload amount increases. This way you are slowly starting to build up a ratio. 3 Downloading files without leechers will not give you an upload on a short term or maybe even never. This also depends how old the file is. I would advise you to not download these files right away. Get a better ratio first. 4 We all want to see the newest events. When you have a bad ratio do not download the big releases. Try to get the smaller files because they can still have a decent to good quality. Even better is when it is freeleech but that will not happen often. The earlier you join to seed the more chance you will have to upload as much as possible (more glasses to fill) so it is wise to check the event schedule and the tracker often. 5 When you use several trackers to download and seed it is a good idea to label your downloads/seeds. This way you can puzzle your way with the limiter. I will explain this a bit more... You only have a certain amount of bandwith on your upload speed. The more files that you are uploading at the same time the less speed per file you will give away. You can change this by limiting some files at certain times or even pause them. When you labeled the files it is easier to focus on different ratios per tracker. Of course you do need to keep their rules in mind about the seed time limit (48 hours after download here). It will be a puzzle but eventually you will improve in this. It can even become some kind of sport 6 Sign up on our forum and check for certain competitions. Just before larger events like UFC we sometimes have competitions where you can win upload amount prizes. Also at times we have other competitions where you can win prizes. Read the rules of these competitions carefully and spend some time when you compete. 7 We have a donation section as well. We do a lot to make this site as wonderful as we can. This costs money as well. When you donate you help us to keep this site running and in return we give Upload amounts, invites and a VIP account for a certain period in return. So this is a win-win situation for all. 8 You can also rent a seedbox. This is a client running on a faster server. Like the name says it is to help you seed files and therefore build up a ratio because it has great upload speeds. The files can be downloaded to your PC using for instance an FTP. 9 When you have material that we do not have you can upload it to our tracker. When people download this file you will get the upload amount. Make sure the material is according to our rules and that it is not yet on the tracker though It can take some time but when you follow these tips I am sure you will succeed because we do our best not to make it too hard for our community. Now it is up to you...enjoy our site and good luck Guide made by: Dragonfoxy Revised and updated 10/04/2016 by Dent |

Another tip, become a member of a university or something like that I'm going there for my first year now, I can upload there at 2MB/s via WLAN if I choose a nice place. and via LAN cable they say the speed can reach 20MB's (gonna try that soon ) I uploaded 170GB to this website and another 1 on just 2 freeleech torrents. in 2 weeks . my home connection upload also sucked, but then I survived with the competitions. So... look for other people their connections , we are non paying bastards anyyway using a torrent site, so no need to feel sorry . |
