Awesome event!

I feel a little bad for Arlovski for loosing so fast again. talk about being considered a glassjaw...

the Diaz vs Scott fight was really great, one of the best in some time. Two tough guys, I like both a lot. Diaz seems unstoppable though.

Jake Shields wasnt anything really special but he is defenitely very skilled.

In all it was a greate event that I really liked.

I totally respect your opinion and I am not trying to say I m right and you re wrong but I saw this event with different eyes:
1. Fight one (Whitehead - randleman) two out of gas, out of shape (despite how built up randleman was) guys who could barely lift their own weight after the first round
2. Fight two (baroni - riggs) two guys combining 20 losses, no need to comment
3. Fight three (diaz - smith). How can Diaz be called a good fighter? Smith was out in the second rd on his feet for 2 minutes eating 100+ punches from diaz but diaz could not put him away. That was embarrassing in my mind. To me, mma is about put your oponent away! And he could not do that for over two min in the second. BTW diaz has no class and doesn't show respect for his oponents... ever... but that runs in the family... See nate fight and you will understand.
4. Fight four (arvlosky - rogers) A bit short to comment
5. Fight five (lawler - shields) I liked it, both guys came out wanted to set their own pace and use their own strength. Shields is smart, when he realized that he couldn't take lawler down, he stayed true to his game plan instead of exchanging punches and found an opening. A bit too quick though... But good fight...

Overall Strikeforce production is still way lower than the UFC or dream (at least better than sengoku). Even though the ufc 95 through 97 were just okay... Since I m comparing events and organizations to me 2009 is a let down overall... I think Dream was much better last year. And none of the UFC of 2009 compete with the last UFC of 2008 which was UFC92 Nog vs mir, rampage vs silva, evans vs griffin, and my country fellowmen cheick kongo... I can't wait for UFC 100... because UFC 99 doesn't fly really high...
Sorry for the tangent...

I totally agree with buffalofr.
Disappointing event, I hope the WEC will be better.

Actually I really enjoyed the event.

2 1st matches ended up as I expexted.

Then we saw Nick Diaz vs Scott Smith in a very exciting fight imo.

Brett Rogers showed that he is capable of competing with the best heavy-weights.

In the main even Jake Shields really impressed me.

Some negative factors though imo:

-Some wierd catchweight-matchups

-And I got so tired with the commentators. I really missed Pat Miletich.

Since I was positive about production for the last Strikeforce I will only add that it's OK. Still beter then EliteXC garage-like feeling of false glamour
BTW Sengoku beats them IMO since Japanese will put as rich production as they can in a smallest hall.

Watching fights once was interesting since I always expected something will happen. But will I watch it again? Probably not.
It's not that I'm that dissapointed but it wasn't really memorable event. It had it's share of excitement in the build-up of each match but it didn't delivered in the end.
Diaz - Smith is match where you could enjoy in the beginning and later it was hilarious...

I thought this was a decent card.

The Riggs vs Baroni fight had a combination of stand-up and grappling and was interesting to watch.

I can't believe that Diaz would drop his hands the way he was and let Smith hit him; He must think he has a jaw of steel :) Although he did take a few big shots and didn't seem to show any effect at all. Scott did look a little tired but Diaz is a cardio machine; I would like to see him fight some better competition.

Nice quick finish by Rogers.

I was a bit disappointed in the main event. Lawler made a tactical error when trying to take shields down; not sure why he would want to go down anyway when he is the better stand-up fighter. I would of liked to see this one go at least 2 rounds and Lawler work his stand-up some more.

Cheers,

JonnyMuzz.
