Goal of this post is to educate users about respect for all the people involved in process of bringing releases to all of us.

As most of you know without all those people we wouldn't have access to so much good stuff that we get. Best way to show appreciation to people involved in process of supplying you with fun is to show some respect which isn't that hard.

You can show respect for their work by clicking thank you and leaving any kind of feedback, good or bad, in the comments.
Comments are great way for cappers and rippers to know how to improve their work for community. Community is key word here cos some of us are here for that reason. Noone is forcing us to share anything here but it's just enthusiasm that drives us.
It would probably be easier to have a really small and closed community where we can share stuff but we have chosen this way.

This brings us to the problem of stealing. It is funny word to be used in p2p world so let me explain.
Stealing is when you take someones release and rename it or remove tag of releaser. It is biggest way of disrespect one can show.

Tags are useful so you know who is author and what you can expect in terms of quality. When you see tags like -DOJO or -Zeus you know what you get. Likewise if releases tagged as -WANKER, for example, are bad in your opinion, you know that in the future you'll avoid anything with that tag. Noone wants to spend their bandwidth and time by downloading something they don't like, only to discover that they got what they wanted to avoid.

Also if you get something from one tracker and upload it to another, don't immediately set it to freeleech unless original upload was freeleech. Even then you don't have to do it. Some releasers don't like to have their stuff shared on other trackers so if you see such request, respect it and don't spread it around.
Such things can frustrate people and they can quit their work so everyone looses.
It didn't happen once for some capper to quit after he was harassed with tons of questions when he will upload some event, so if it comes great, if not someone else might release it.

So have some tact and manners, don't hit and run so you could be first to upload on other sites, and don't rename releases.

Personally, I've been clicking the ThankYou button on each download, but I was not leaving comments, assuming they of little value other than to complain. Since the end of last year, when it was brought to my attention that the seeders really want feedback, I've been leaving comments as well.

That's all they ask of us in return for their time and dedication to the wholesome awesomeness that is MMA. We should be able to manage that without too much difficulty. But I'm preaching to the choir, here in the forum.

Too bad you can't tie comments to ratios. hehe. ;-]

Thank you is always nice and it takes one click. Personally I'd like to see comments on something I've ripped even if it's negative. Maybe someone will point what I did wrong and didn't notice so I know for next time what to improve.

Its possible but how to make sure its not abused might be harder :-l

Thank you for leaving feedback jrhendrix, and yeah a simple thank you click also means a lot because it means you are making someone happy, well worth the trouble and great to know :)

Not a problem!
It is hardly an effort to say thanks.
Just shows who's had a proper social education if you ask me.

Good luck!

I'm all on your side people, i try to give cappers and rippers all the respect i can - i'm in a country where mma is not allowed on TV - so without those guys i'd be lost and have to watch old bas rutten fights on tape (oh i think i'm gonna watch some bas rutten fights now anyway) - we all around the world with no access to fights on TV r the most thankfull of all... So i'll do what i can: thank and seed

To be honest.

One thing is respect, another thing is reality.

Respect

Respect is to not change the filename, releasename, maybe include a respectful thank you comment, make sure that wherever you got it from, you are a good member and share there too, not just leech. Maybe not upload it instantly on another place if it was something special and unique for the place you got it from, but wait a little so that their members get the credit for their work, donations and efforts.
Off course an event is hard to wait with and I dont blame people for uploading it as soon as they can to their friends at other places, as well as from other places to here, but you can still make sure all the details are correct as a small token of respect to the people that put their hard work, money and time into making the release.

Reality

Reality is that this is filesharing people! No capper or ripper has a copyright on his/hers releases. Whatever is shared once, is shared by all. Nobody owns or can claim the rights to a release or an upload. It's just not the way it works. Here as much as on other trackers and forums and sites, people share what they get from other places as well as their own original releases. Everybody is trying to do their part and from my point of view this is great and exactly how it should work.

Reality is also that there are a lot of trackers, forums and sites that DOESNT contribute, they ONLY share what others make. Thats sadly also a part of how it all works and not really anything we can do something about. My hope is that they at least keep the releasenames and descriptions intact and give the credit to the people that are really behind the releases.

What I absolutely think should be avoided at all costs is changing filenames/releasenames. ALWAYS give credits to the real people behind the releases and never "steal" others hard work. Simply for one reason. It might make them stop. And no-one wants that!

I would like to know what's in someone's head when he downloads DOJO rip and can be arsed to rename it before uploading to BMMAT.
It's not like people will believe that he ripped it. Some people get hard on asian porn, some on renaming files.

What if I get hard on Asian porn AND renaming files? Does that make me two times the ass? :p

Seriously though, awesome thread. It's nice to see people giving consideration to the people who put in all the work to give us such awesome rips.
