In august we donated a part of all the donations made on the tracker to the World Cancer Research Fund International.

This was such a good idea that me and the staff guys decided we will do it some 3-4 times a year from now on.
We will only choose charities to donate to that we can all relate to and that are world wide and are proven to be honest and do good stuff. Before choosing any charity we do a deeper research to see that we give the cash to the right people and no suspect organizations out there.
Examples could be towards education of poor children, the struggle against aids, cancer research off course and surely a few other important things.

You will be informed about when the periods are and the developement of this little project as we go along.

If you have any opinions about this matter feel free to ventilate your thoughts here.

Best regards from all the staff

Same here ;)

By the way you wont have to donate directly to the charity. A 5 % of the total donations during one month will be set apart and its not a huge sum of money but its at least something positive to feel good about being a part of we hope. Many small rivers...

Actually as it looks this month we wont be able to do much more then hardly survive but I hope for donations to pick up soon or by the end of month or so.

When this idea came up I immediately embraced it. I think this is truly something that reflects the thoughts of the staff and goal of the site as a community.

We all care about our planet and some people have a better life than others just because they were born in a richer environment, however that does not mean they are healthier. The first donation we made on behalf of this site was a disease we are all aware of and fear. Many of us lost dear friends or family members to cancer and have seen the effects of this nasty disease. Thanks to a lot of research some people got cured but it is still hazardous as it can spread around inside someone's body with death as a result. Many have struggled, thought they've beat it and then still died because of this, leaving their children or parents behind in pain and of course others too. We can only hope they find a cure for this.

Also the world is changing. Some people love to be powerful and abuse wild life and/or weaker people like children to gain as much money as they can. Or they start a war where innocent people fight for them just because they are forced or to earn a buck and hope to get a better life. How can it be better when you are shot?

A few suggestions of charities I can think of at the moment are:

Unicef
This is an organisation that tries to educate and protect children in third worlds, educate people in the struggle against Aids/HIV and do many more projects.

WWF International or WWF Home
This is an organisation that tries to save animals from getting extinct and helps to create a better natural environment on our planet. I myself support this organisation in my home country and also "adopted" a few animals, even getting a nice cuddly present in return.

There are many more but these came to mind for now.
