You might have noticed that we have been down for a few hours. For some more for others less. This is because we have upgraded our webserver to a much faster and awesome server.

Old Host Server Configuration

Single processor Intel Xeon 3210
8GB RAM (Cannot expand further)
750GB HDD
100mbps port on 120Gbps of network

New Host Server Configuration

Dual Processor Intel Xeon Quadcore 5520
18GB RAM expandable to 64GB RAM
1TB HDD expandable to 2TB
100mbps port on 250 Gbps of network


Please have patience while our nameservers update all over the world and we fix some minor bugs from the transfer.

I'm interested(and always have wondered) what OS and software do you use?

I too am curious about this, and also, why the 100mbps port? Isn't GB Ethernet almost standard on new servers now? Not that it's a complaint, I never have any problems with the speeds on this site, but just a question of a curious mind

For a webserver its best to use an OS like CentOS or Fedora possibly Debian. They are all stable and have good and extensive support and documentation and are constantly in evolution. If you are a beginer most recommend Ubuntu because of its community and because its basicly easier to handle.

100 Mbit is more then enough for us right now, should we reach that it will automatically be increased and we can upgrade at anytime if desired. I dont think 1 Gbps is standard on servers quite yet even if it would be nice.
