Post subject:  Re: [SPOILERS] UFC 146: Dos Santos vs. Mir [COMPETITION.RESULTS]

Congrats to the winners!
Awesome awesome night for the heavyweights! It could have been either a disaster or a really good event, this was clearly the latter.
As per usual on here you can find all your post fight related news under the SPOILERS tab! Enjoy and hope everybody has a good week end!

Spoiler:
Stefan Struve, Dan Hardy, Roy Nelson and Paul Sass each earned $70,000 bonuses for their performances at tonight's UFC 146 event.

Hardy and Nelson earned "Knockout of the Night" bonuses, and Struve and Sass picked up "Submission of the Night" awards. No "Fight of the Night" honors were awarded.

UFC officials announced the winners following the event.

UFC 146 took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event's main card aired on pay-per-view, and the prelims aired on FX and streamed on Facebook.

Nelson needed a mere 51 seconds to floor heavyweight Dave Herman with an overhand right in a main-card bout. Hardy, meanwhile, snapped a four-fight losing streak when he earned a first-round knockout of welterweight Duane "Bang" Ludwig in an FX-televised preliminary-card bout.

Struve, meanwhile, tapped fellow heavyweight Lavar Johnson with a 65-second armbar in the night's first PPV bout. Sass competed in a Facebook-streamed prelim and picked up his ninth career victory via triangle choke when he tapped out lightweight Jacob Volkmann.

Spoiler:
After a pair of impressive performances at Saturday night's UFC 146 event, Junior Dos Santos (15-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) and Cain Velasquez (10-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) will meet for a second time.

UFC president Dana White confirmed at the evening's post-event press conference that heavyweight champ Dos Santos will likely next face the man that he beat for the belt, Velasquez.

"I think it's a good idea," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I like it."

A date and location for the event have yet to be determined.

UFC 146 took place Saturday night at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena. Dos Santos downed Frank Mir in the main event, defending an early takedown and then outboxing Mir before scoring a second-round TKO en route to the first successful defense of his title.

The victory served as Dos Santos' 10th-straight win overall, and he remains undefeated in the UFC octagon.

Meanwhile, Velasquez earned his first win since surrendering the belt to Dos Santos at this past November's UFC on FOX 1 event.

Facing Strikeforce import Antonio Silva, Velasquez was in vintage form, taking the fight to the floor in the early going and pounding away from top position. A short Velasquez elbow opened a gash on Silva's head that bled profusely and left "Bigfoot" struggling to see. Velasquez was unrelenting with his ground-and-pound and earned a stoppage with his brutal assault at the 3:36 mark of the round.

With the win, Velasquez rebounded from the first professional loss of his career.

Spoiler:
Jason "Mayhem" Miller (23-8 MMA, 0-3 UFC) made his name in MMA, in part, because of his outlandish antics, but apparently unknown theatrics also cost him his job under the Zuffa banner Saturday night.

"Something happened backstage afterwards … 'Mayhem' is done," UFC president Dana White said, addressing a large gathering of media members after UFC 146 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. When pressed about the specifics of the situation, White declined.

"Just some [expletive] I don't want to talk about," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Miller's action in the octagon probably didn't help his cause as former Arizona State wrestler C.B. Dollaway grinded out a unanimous decision victory over the former star of MTV's "Bully Beatdown" during a preliminary bout broadcast on FX.

The crowd supported the showboating star, who donned a paper bag with a painted on smile over his head, camouflage shorts, a beige vest and a canteen (presumably in honor of Memorial Day) during his walkout to the octagon. While he didn't gas in the first round like he did during his lopsided loss to Michael Bisping at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale back in December, the 31-year-old Miller looked equally fatigued and frustrated in the final round against Dollaway.

Miller — who also lost his debut bout in the UFC to Georges St-Pierre via unanimous decision back at UFC 52 in April 2005 — staggered Dollaway in the second round with a big right hand. But he couldn't capitalize as he slid around the octagon allowing Dollaway to recover. Dollaway then wrestled his way to victory, much to the chagrin of the crowd, with takedowns and a grind-it-out ground game in the final round.

White admitted he was surprised that Miller didn't fare better in his UFC bouts.

"When you have all these other organizations and people start saying this guy is the best and starts getting ranked and he hasn't fought the best guys in world yet … (this can happen)," White said. "That's why I always call [expletive] on all these other organizations and their rankings."

Miller — whose over-the-top entrances, featuring a plethora of girls and glitzy get-ups made him a star in Japan during his DREAM fighting days — seemed to irk the UFC boss during Friday's weigh-ins.

"When you get embarrassed the way he did against Michael Bisping, then you show up in that pink whatever that thing was, I'm not into that stuff," said White of Miller's outfit, which included a pink boom box, pink boa, and pink Hello Kitty underwear. "It's not my thing. I guess I don't really care if guys do it because you see it at weigh-ins all the time. Just take this thing serious. If you want to be a clown do that stuff on your reality show."

Spoiler:
Arianny Celeste was arrested early Saturday morning in Las Vegas on a charge of domestic violence, but UFC president Dana White is not pulling his support from the UFC octagon girl.

According to records with the Clark County inmate database, the 26-year old Celeste was booked into the Clark County Detention Center under her real name, Arianny Lopez, at 7:30 a.m.

She was held on $3,000 bail and released after 7 p.m. PT. Celeste is slated for a hearing on May 30.

Celeste missed the majority of the UFC 146 event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, but was met with a resounding cheer from the crowd when monitors panned to her sitting next to fellow octagon girl Brittney Palmer just before Roy Nelson's knockout victory over Dave Herman. Prior to her arrival at the MGM Grand, White released a statement showing his support for Celeste.

"Arianny is our baby," the statement read. "She has been with us for over five years. She is a good girl and an amazing ambassador for the UFC. I don't know all the details of what happened but we have her back and support her 100 percent."

Celeste joined the UFC in 2006 and has since become the longest-tenured and most popular octagon girl. In addition to her duties with the UFC, the Las Vegas native has modeled and appeared in Maxim, FHM, and was on the cover of Playboy in November 2010. She was named Ring Girl of the year from 2009-2011.

Celeste was active on her Twitter page in the hours leading up to her arrest today.

Near midnight, she posted a photo of her herself in evening attire sitting at a table, with a caption that read: "Dinner at Mizumi," refereeing to a new restaurant at the Wynn Las Vegas.

A few hours later, she tweeted another photo of herself with a male companion who was kissing the side of her face, with a caption: "??! forever n always??"

An additional tweet came around 3:30 a.m. with her making a crazy look and the caption: "I be going crayyyy ha hey bay bayyy."

Celeste's arrest comes on the heels of a couple of high profile issues with fighters within the UFC.

Light heavyweight champ Jon Jones was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after crashing his Bentley into a telephone phone in Binghamton, N.Y. on May 19. Also, his past week welterweight title contender Nick Diaz was suspended for one year by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for testing positive for marijuana metabolites following his interim title fight against Carlos Condit at UFC 143 on Feb. 4.

"I'm going straight home tonight so I don’t get arrested," White joked with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) at Saturday's post-event press conference.

Nevertheless, he said the recent issues haven't necessarily raised any serious concerns about issues among his employees.

"These are all real people," White said. "These are human beings with real lives. Bad things happen sometimes. We're just going through a streak of bad things happening."

In Celeste's case, White said fame and money didn't play any factor in her arrest.

"There's always a level of fame, a level of money," he said. "And it's always hard to manage. It's not as easy as everybody thinks. But that wasn't the case with Arianny. Arianny's been around for a long time and she's been making money for a long time.

"This was just a personal issue that I don't know enough about. But I know enough about her that we've got her (back)."

Spoiler:
While he wasn't technically involved in the historic all-heavyweight card at UFC 146 Saturday night in Las Vegas, Brock Lesnar requested a cage-side seat to see what all the hype was about.

"He was here," UFC president Dana White said. "I think that says it all."

Well, not really.

Does the former UFC heavyweight champ and recently revamped WWE wrestler want back in the organization that he retired from this past December after losing to Alistair Overeem via first-round TKO?

"He texted me and said, 'I want to come to the fight, but keep it quiet because I don't want to tell anybody,'" White said. "He said, 'What are you doing tonight? ... I want to talk face to face.'

"You never know with him. He might want to come back. He might just want to hang out."

The 34-year-old Lesnar — who won the heavyweight title over Randy Couture back at UFC 91 after just two fights in the UFC — had been battling a second round with diverticulitis (the disease cost him 12 inches of his colon in 2011) before retiring from the sport for good in December.

Perhaps Lesnar just had interest in Junior Dos Santos and Frank Mir's championship tilt since he had history with both fighters. The one-time Minnesota Viking and former NCAA Division I national wrestling champion split a pair of fights with Mir and was scheduled to fight Dos Santos after their season as coaches on "The Ultimate Fighter 13."

But there's always the chance that Lesnar (5-3 MMA record, 4-3 UFC) wants back in the octagon.

"I still think Brock Lesnar is one of the top guys in the heavyweight division," White said. "Is he in the top five? I don't know. We'll see."

The UFC boss has heaped tons of praise on the pay-per-view draw and went as far to say Lesnar deserves a spot in the UFC Hall of Fame despite his short career in the cage.

In April Lesnar returned to the wrestling organization that made him famous and challenged new WWE king John Cena. A recent storyline in which he quit the WWE made Lesnar's return to MMA all the more feasible.

White said MMA fans were smart enough to decipher the two worlds.

"I think people get it now with Brock," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "Brock is a huge WWE star and huge UFC star. He's accomplished at both. ... He went back to the WWE. There's no secret. I think people get it. There's nothing fake going on here. It's real. They get it."
