But then again, going 3-8 last time justifies my 50/50 record now.

Spoiler:
ANAHEIM, Calif. – As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) first reported, UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar (14-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) will defend his belt in Japan.

And of course, after a stellar UFC on FOX win over Clay Guida, Ben Henderson (14-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will take the role of challenger.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the booking at Saturday's UFC on FOX post-event press conference and later stated the contest will serve as the main event for the February fight card.

The organization, which hasn't promoted a show in Japan since UFC 29 in late 2000, heads to Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Feb. 26, 2012.

To accommodate the traditional live North American broadcasting on Saturday night, Feb. 25, the Japanese event is expected to take place Sunday morning at 10 a.m. local time. Officials haven't determined broadcast plans or event naming for the show, and no broadcast plans have been announced for North America.

Featuring a heavyweight title fight between new champion Junior Dos Santos and former beltholder Cain Velasquez, "UFC on FOX: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos" marked the UFC's live debut on network television and served as a teaser to the two companies' seven-year deal, which officially begins in 2012.

Henderson downed Guida via unanimous decision in the evening's co-main event.

Edgar, of course, fought most recently at this past month's UFC 136 event, where he defeated top contender Gray Maynard via fourth-round TKO. The clash capped off an epic trilogy between the two, which ended in a dead heat at 1-1-1. However, with Edgar earning the lone stoppage in the series, many fans and pundits have put aside the need for a fourth meeting between the two rivals.

Spoiler:
ANAHEIM, Calif. – Junior Dos Santos, Ricardo Lamas, Ben Henderson and Clay Guida each earned $65,000 fight-night bonuses for their performances at Saturday's UFC on FOX event.

Dos Santos earned the night's "Knockout of the Night" award, Lamas picked up the "Submission of the Night" bonus, and Henderson and Guida took home "Fight of the Night" honors.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) learned of the bonus winners and award amounts at UFC on FOX's post-fight press conference.

UFC on FOX took place at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. After a full nine-fight undercard that streamed on Facebook and FOXSports.com, the UFC made its network-television debut with a one-fight event on FOX.

New heavyweight champ Dos Santos was a shoo-in for the knockout bonus with the clubbing overhand right he landed that put Cain Velasquez in a world of trouble. Firing away with punch after punch on the downed Velasquez, Dos Santos secured the win and the heavyweight strap. It took all of 64 seconds.

Preliminary card competitor Lamas got a handful with Cub Swanson on the feet – and on the ground, it wasn't much better. Swanson almost finished a guillotine choke in the first round, but when things hit the mat in the second, Lamas was waiting and ready to cinch an arm-triangle choke that prompted the tapout from Swanson at the 2:16 mark of the second frame.

The co-main event title eliminator between lightweights Henderson and Guida was a hard act to follow. In a fight that went up, down and all around, Henderson outgrappled a relentless Guida to win a unanimous decision. Henderson now moves on to face Frankie Edgar on Feb. 27 at UFC 144 in Saitama, Japan.

Spoiler:
ANAHEIM, Calif. – Junior Dos Santos (14-1 MMA, 8-0 UFC) suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee a week-and-a-half prior to his fight with Cain Velasquez (9-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) at UFC on FOX.

"I was feeling my knee a little bit, and I was worried about it," Dos Santos told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Dos Santos was advised by doctors that the injury wouldn't preclude him from fighting. But he now plans a follow-up to see what his immediate future holds.

UFC on FOX took place Saturday at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. The one-fight main card aired live on FOX while preliminary fights streamed live on Facebook and FOX.com.

Dos Santos ripped the UFC heavyweight title from Cain Velasquez's hands with a 64-second KO victory in the network-televised main event.

Immediately afterward, he admitted to being less than 100 percent leading up to the fight. And while adrenaline proved to be a good anesthetic, he worried about taking a kick that might further damage his knee, which he originally hurt while training jiu-jitsu.

Thankfully, things ended quick. But soon, he'll get word on whether his injury is serious enough to warrant surgery.

"I don't think so," Dos Santos said. "I'm feeling good."

Dos Santos, who said he was on crutches during the final lead-up to the fight, said his final week of training was limited to extensive rehab on the knee and working punching drills in the pool to minimize impact on the joint.

Dos Santos earned his eighth consecutive win in the octagon with his quick knockout of Velasquez. He said he had no preference on the date of his next fight, which will be against the winner of December's UFC 141 headliner between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem.

With his knee busted up, it may be a little later rather than sooner. Nevertheless, Dos Santos remained positive that he'll make a quick recovery and not suffer any extensive layoff.

Spoiler:
Saturday night's UFC on FOX debut drew in an average of 5.7 million viewers during the one-hour show in adjusted ratings released Sunday afternoon by Nielsen Media Research through FOX.

Preliminary overnights initially suggested an average of 4.6 million viewers for the event, which saw Junior dos Santos knock out Cain Velasquez in the first round, but those estimates were expected to change as more information became available. The final number suggests an audience that was around 20 percent larger than originally thought.

According to FOX, it was the most watched professional fight since boxing heavyweights Lennox Lewis and Vladimir Klitschko drew 7 million viewers to their HBO fight in 2003. The network also says it projects the hour to win its key demographics, including the coveted 18-to-34-year old age group.

While the event was the first time ever for the UFC on broadcast television, it wasn't the first time for MMA on a network platform. In 2008, an EliteXC event was the first to pull off the feat, airing an event featuring Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson that drew an average of 4.3 million viewers. That event, which lasted more than two hours, peaked with over 6.5 million viewers to watch Slice knock out Thompson. The match went into the third round, likely helping the broadcast draw viewers as it went along. That's a stark contrast to dos Santos-Velasquez, which lasted just 64 seconds.

The one-hour special was extremely strong among the male 18-34 demographic, as it out-rated every college football game this year with the exception of November 5's LSU vs. Alabama game, a matchup that featured No. 1 vs. No. 2 in the national rankings.

Among local markets, Las Vegas led the nation in ratings. Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio, Texas and Tulsa, Oklahoma rounded out the top five.
