Post subject:  [Solved] Has my account been hacked or something?

Hi guys,

im having a weird situation with my account and my overall download/upload ratio.

I could've SWEAR that last time i came here (last week), i had a ratio of something like 0.80, thereabouts.

Now i find that i have 705gb/331gb download/upload.

Now, these numbers seemed waaay off to me, just taking into account the fact that i couldn't have possibily downloaded so much stuff so far. In my "completed log" i show 47 torrents, and because i only download ufc-even related stuff (no compilations though, only recent events), i dont even have to do the math of what i downloaded so far.

But anyway, here's something real quick, 700 / 47 = 14.89, which would mean every torrent i downloaded should have an average size of nearly 15gb, and that's just not correct.

Many torrents i've downloaded, like early prelims and prelims have sizes of 3gb, 4gb, 6gb etc.

Something's up with my account, and again, my memory may be wrong, but just a week ago i could swear that my ratios were totally different.

Can somebody provide some help?

THanks so much :)

Hi,

At a quick glance on your account. No, nobody has hacked your account. Only logins from your own location, no other locations in your profile. Unless someone else in your own household or on same internet connection uses your account there is no reason to suspect foul play.

What torrent client are you using? I suspect that it might send "wrong data" to the tracker or have a bug.

We can manually count the exact amount you have downloaded and fix it, but lets try and find the cause first :)

Hey!

thanks for the quick reply! Im using a client called transmission, which is a super barebones client. A no, nobody is using my computer in my house, that's for sure. I still have the torrents from last week's ufc event, lewis vs teixeira, and although i couldn't get a good ratio on those, no strange values here.... so i really don't know. It's very weird, and like i said, the math doesnt seem to add up, unless im really misjudging things.

Thanks!

Transmission usually works fine on iOS (Apple) and linux, but maybe not as well on Windows.

What OS are you on?

Try qbittorrent if you are on Windows.

Your ratio has been reset to 1.0, if you like we can calculate the exact amount manually but it would take a while lol. Does 1.0 seem fair and are you ok with it?

Yeah, i have windows. Hmm, with all due respect i have a hard time believing it was the client that caused this, not because i trust it exactly, but because i spend little time on the internet as it is, on this laptop, and i don't see how it would download that amount, even if it was a redownload kind of situation. Like i said, before last week it was fine. Anyway, i'll keep a closer eye on it from now on.

Yeah, that ratio is actually probably more than i deserve, if you wanna take it down a little bit to .80 or something like that i'm fine with it too. If not, really appreciate it :)

Thanks for quickly dealing with this! All the best!

Whatever caused it, you can test by stopping all torrents, downloading only 1 and check the uploaded amount in the client and compare with what the tracker says to see if there are any differences.

Good that we at least managed to get your ratio back to a reasonable level so you can continue too enjoy the tracker as you have deserved! :)
