Background
The event is expect to be headlined by two of the world's top Welterweights. Bellator champion Andrey Koreshkov meets former champion Bellator Douglas Lima in the main event of the promotion’s historic debut at Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv.
26-year-old Koreshkov won the welterweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Lima at Bellator 140 in July 2015. He defended the belt earlier this year with a dominant win over former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson at Bellator 153. With six straight wins, he’ll now go after his second title defense.
Lima won the vacant welterweight title with a second-round TKO of Rick Hawn at Bellator 117 in April 2014. After a lengthy layoff, he fought Koreshkov and lost with a pair of 50-45 scores, plus a 48-47. The setback snapped a five-fight winning streak. After his loss to Koreshkov, he was out for a full year, but came back in July to take a unanimous decision from the hard-hitting Paul Daley at Bellator 158 in London.
In addition, the card will feature one of Israel’s own in the co-headliner, when newly signed Bellator MMA featherweight And Israeli Army Veteran Noad Lahat (9-2) meets NCAA Division II All-American Scott Cleve (15-5).
