Only a few days following his unsuccessful challenge to the Light Heavyweight title, Sonnen appeared on UFC Tonight to discuss his future in the UFC.
On Saturday, Chael Sonnen finally got his chance at Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones. It only took Jones 4:44 to TKO Sonnen with brutal ground and pound despite having suffered a particularly nasty dislocated toe in the process. In Sonnen's post-fight interview, he hinted to Joe Rogan that retirement was a possibility as he no long saw a path back to title contention.
On Tuesday's episode of UFC Tonight, Sonnen revealed that he would not be retiring:
I will definitely continue – and at 205 pounds, unless they come up with a catchweight. They have a couple of people that do that. I know Rich Franklin has fought at catchweights a bunch, but I'm not going to be in contendership anytime soon, and neither is Rich Franklin or a pool of other guys. So there is a little bit of room where we could meet in the middle.
He followed that up by calling out another Brazil rival in Wanderlei Silva. Wanderlei had a pretty simple though noncommittal response to Sonnen on Twitter:
