The boys behind UFC.com brought word of the verbal agreements earlier today.
Davis (10-1) lost his spot in the 205-pound pecking order after Rashad Evans outclassed him at UFC on Fox 2 earlier this year in Chicago. The loss to "Suga" didn't sour his inevitable return to "the mix," as "Mr. Wonderful" got back on his horse by strangling Wagner Prado last weekend in Brazil.
Can he take out the former division champion?
Griffin (19-7) rebounded from a first-round shellacking at the hands of Mauricio Rua in Rio to retire Tito Ortiz in their UFC 148 rubber match. His only other win outside of "The People's Champion" since getting floored by Anderson Silva is a unanimous decision victory over Rich Franklin in early 2011.
The former "Ultimate Fighter" became available when his original opponent, Chael Sonnen, moved on to bigger and better things.
UFC 155 will be headlined by a heavyweight championship showdown pitting reigning division kingpin Junior dos Santos against former titleholder Cain Velasquez in a rematch from their UFC on FOX face off in late 2011. one that saw "Cigano" win by knockout.
