A light-heavyweight bout between former champ Tito Ortiz (16-9-1 MMA, 15-9-1 UFC) and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (19-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) is slated for UFC 140.
UFC officials announced that verbal agreements are in place for the fight, which initially was slated to take place back in March.
UFC 140 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
The night's main card airs live on pay-per-view, and Ortiz vs. Nogueira will be part of the broadcast.
The two vets were slated to fight in the headliner of UFC Fight Night 24 earlier this year. However, Ortiz was forced off the card due to a cut he suffered in training.
Ortiz, who was winless (0-4-1) in his five fights before that scheduled bout, ultimately returned at UFC 132 in July. There, he scored a major upset of fast-rising Ryan Bader with a first-round guillotine choke. However, the 36-year-old's resurgence was short-lived, and he suffered a second-round TKO loss to top contender Rashad Evans at UFC 133. (Ortiz was a third-choice opponent for Evans, who initially was slated to fight champ Jon Jones and then initial replacement Phil Davis.)
Nogueira, a former PRIDE great, has seen mixed results in his injury-plagued UFC run. After joining the UFC in 2009, he won his first two fights with a TKO victory over Luiz Cane and a controversial split-decision victory over Jason Brilz. However, he's since suffered decision losses to Ryan Bader at UFC 119 and Davis at UFC Fight Night 24. A scheduled UFC 133 bout with Rich Franklin fell apart when Nogueira was forced off the card with a shoulder injury.
