There's a lot of pressure that comes going into your second fight in the UFC. Especially when it's your home crowd cheering you on. Trying to make weight, working on strategies, getting mentally focused. But imagine one week out you find out that the place you grew up as a kid, where you have family, has had a massive earthquake. That's is what's happened to New Zealand born light heavyweight fighter James Te Huna. At around lunchtime on Tuesday, while the PPV fighters were having open workouts for the press, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake ripped through Christchurch, New Zealand's second biggest city. When writing this 113 people have lost there lives, with over 200 people still missing. James went on Facebook yesterday to vent some emotions and send some love. "I am heart broken over the devastation in Christchurch. I was born just outside of the city & have family there, as far as I know they are all safe. This weekend I will not only be fighting for myself but to help rebuild the lives of those who have suffered. I will be donating all of my fight earnings from this weekends match to NZ 2011 Earthquake appeal." James Te Huna will be fighting Alexander Gutstafsson at UFC 127, which will play live on the UFC Facebook page for free. All of his fight earnings will be donated to the Earthquake Appeal. If you are watching online or going to the event, expect the local crowd to be a lot more vocal. For more information on how you can help the NZ Christchurch Appeal, you can visit the Red Cross website, or through James Te Huna's website here to donate. http://mmaanalysed.com/index.php?option ... s&Itemid=1 |
