Former WEC bantamweight champ Miguel Torres (38-3) looks set to compete inside the Octagon for the first time in his career on February 5th at the UFC’s annual “Me die Weekend” show in Las Vegas. Torres’ opponent at the event is expected to be fellow WEC veteran Antonio Banuelos (who will also be making his promotional debut).
News of the rumored match-up was first reported by HeavyMMA.
Torres and Banuelos are each coming of victorious outings in what will ultimately be their final appearances for WEC, both of which came at WEC 51 this past September. Torres was able to submit Charlie Valencia a little more than halfway through their bout, while the 18-6 Banuelos was able to outpoint Chad George on all three judges’ scorecards and earn his fourth win in five fights.
In addition to what will no doubt be an energetic scrap featuring the well-rounded 135-pounders, UFC 126 is also rumored to involve Anderson Silva defending his middleweight title against Vitor Belfort, Forrest Griffin fighting Rich Franklin, and a collision between two of MMA’s brightest 205-pound prospects, Jon Jones and Ryan Bader.Source: http://fiveouncesofpain.com/2010/11/05/ ... t-ufc-126/
