This month's UFC 111 event in Newark, N.J., is already a sellout.
That's the word from UFC president Dana White, who posted the news on his Twitter account this afternoon.
UFC 111 takes place March 27 at the Prudential Center with two two pay-per-view title fights: UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre vs. top contender Dan Hardy and Shane Carwin vs. Frank Mir for an interim heavyweight title.
However, as of Wednesday afternoon, Ticketmaster.com showed a few single tickets available in various seating sections. But two adjoining seats weren't available anywhere in the arena through the system, which is a sure indication of a sellout.
UFC 111 is just the second UFC event to take place at the Prudential Center. The organization first ventured to the venue in November 2007 for UFC 78 and drew a crowd of 14,071, which was announced as a sellout. (Depending on the seating configuration, the Prudential Center can accommodate up to 19,500 spectators.)
White stated he'll hold some ticket giveaways for fans in New York City. New York doesn't currently regulate mixed martial arts, so UFC officials targeted Newark to appeal to both New Jersey and New York fans. Source: http://mmajunkie.com/news/18252/dana-wh ... ellout.mma
