Background
The King's Return: K-1 World MAX 2025 Finals Explode in Tokyo!
The world's premier kickboxing league, K-1, returns to its spiritual home, the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, on November 15, 2025, for K-1 World MAX 2025 Super Welterweight World Championship Tournament Final. This historic event will see eight of the best 70 kg fighters on the planet collide in a grueling one-night tournament to crown the new MAX champion, alongside three major title defenses and championship bouts.
The Ultimate One-Night Tournament.
The Super Welterweight (70 kg) division is globally recognized as the pinnacle of K-1, and this tournament final brings together a fearsome international cast of Quarterfinalists.
Defending his status as a top contender is Stoyan Koprivlenski of Bulgaria, who won the 2024 tournament. Known for his crushing power and aggressive pressure, Koprivlenski (31-7-0) has openly stated his goal is to claim the back-to-back title, but he faces a brutal Quarterfinal test against Thailand’s technical dynamo Hercules WanKongOhm.WKO.
Another standout clash features the reigning K-1 Super Welterweight Champion, Ouyang Feng of China, who enters the bracket looking to add the tournament crown to his belt. Ouyang’s path begins against Brazil’s Jonas Salsicha (3-0-0), who brings an unbeaten professional record and explosive knockout power to the ring. Other international favorites, including the Dutch knockout artist Darryl Verdonk and the Armenian powerhouse Zhora Akopyan, are also set to engage in intense opening-round matchups, ensuring a night of non-stop, high-stakes combat culminating in the Tournament Final.
Three Championship Clashes Set the Stage.
Before the MAX final, three title fights are guaranteed to deliver explosive action across multiple divisions.
The legendary Dutch kickboxing pedigree is on full display as reigning K-1 Heavyweight Champion Roel Mannaart (27-3-0) defends his title against Brazilian challenger Ariel Machado. Mannaart, the son of the famed Mejiro Gym founder Andre Mannaart, is known for his crisp boxing, heavy kicks, and successful title defenses, including a recent knockout victory after a five-year hiatus. He puts the Heavyweight crown on the line against the aggressive Machado in a true clash of global titans.
Additionally, two vacant titles will find new owners in all-Japanese showdowns. At Super Lightweight (65 kg), the veteran Taio Asahisa (22-9-0) battles Shu Inagaki for the vacant championship. Asahisa, a former K-1 Lightweight champion, has recently shown a return to knockout form, while Inagaki is a young, aggressive competitor known for his high pace.
The vacant Bantamweight (53 kg) Championship pits the highly experienced Muay Thai specialist Issei Ishii (47-19-4) against the dynamic young talent Eito Kurokawa (8-1-1). Ishii, a decorated veteran with championship success in multiple organizations, brings a massive edge in experience and knockout wins, while the younger Kurokawa, a Krush champion, represents the new wave of technical Japanese strikers.
