UFC 114 takes place at MGM in Las Vegas, UFC Fan Expo 2010 at Mandalay Bay Although the second annual UFC Fan Expo will take place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, the coinciding UFC 114 event will take place down the street at its sister venue, the MGM Grand Garden Arena. UFC 114 initially was expected to take place at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in conjunction with UFC Fan Expo 2010 – which was the case with the successful UFC Fan Expo 2009 weekend last year. Instead, this year's events will be held at the separate venues in May, a UFC source today confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). UFC Fan Expo takes place May 28-29 on Memorial Day weekend, and UFC 114 takes place May 29. The two host venues, which are part of the same ownership group, are both located on the Las Vegas Strip and are just a short tram or cab ride away from each other. The first UFC Fan Expo, which coincided with the historic UFC 100 card in July 2009, featured 200,000 square feet with special events, fighter appearances, autograph signings, a UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony, "The Ultimate Fighter 10" cast unveiling, and training and develop sessions. Retail and exhibition spots included apparel, electronic gaming, food and beverages, fight gear, fitness equipment and supplies, nutritional supplements, lifestyle products and more. The expo space was packed all weekend, and in the post-UFC 100 press conference, UFC president Dana White said UFC Fan Expo 2009 drew an estimated 30,000 to 50,000 attendees. In addition to the second edition of the fan expo, UFC 114 also is shaping up to be a can't-miss event. Expected bouts for the pay-per-view card include Rashad Evans vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Forrest Griffin vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and John Hathaway vs. Diego Sanchez. Health permitting, UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar could also compete on the card. Source: http://mmajunkie.com/news/17881/ufc-114 ... ay-bay.mma |
