Background

BRAVE Combat Federation continues to expand its global influence, with Spain emerging as a key partner in its international sports initiatives. The announcement of BRAVE CF 89, set to take place on October 19 at Pabellon Santiago Martin in Tenerife, highlights the growing collaboration between BRAVE CF and Spain.

The organization’s continued focus on Spain, through high-profile events like BRAVE CF 89, solidifies the country’s status as a top player in global MMA. This partnership opens doors for future collaborations, boosting Spain’s role in the international sports scene. Spain has become a crucial destination for BRAVE CF events. Following the successful debut with BRAVE CF 75, the organization’s return for BRAVE CF 89 demonstrates a commitment to strengthening sports initiatives in the country.

This event features top international MMA athletes, hailing from 11 nations, which elevates Spain’s role as a major player in global combat sports through BRAVE CF. The partnership with local organizations like Fight2One has created a strong foundation for future growth. By hosting events in Spain, BRAVE CF boosts its brand and contributes to the development of MMA in the region.

Spanish fighters like Jose Sanchez, who will fight on home soil at BRAVE CF 89, gain global exposure, while local fans enjoy world-class combat sports entertainment, including the first-ever world title fight for MMA on Spanish soil. On October 19, the best Super Welterweight fighter in the world and BRAVE CF champion, the undefeated Kamal Magomedov will take on top contender Luiz Cado, from Brazil, in the main event. It is that type of high-profile fight that is also key in boosting Spanish MMA’s stance in the global scene.

Moreover, these events attract attention from sponsors, media, and fans, creating economic benefits for Spain’s sports industry. The influx of international fighters and teams further strengthens Spain’s position as a top destination for major sports events.

The main event of BRAVE CF 89 will decide the top Super Welterweight fighter in the world as Kamal Magomedov defends his title against Luiz Cado and beyond being a contest between two world class fighters, the fight also represents a battle between Russia and Brazil.

The rivalry between Russian and Brazilian fighters has been an interesting storyline in BRAVE Combat Federation, with 11 matchups so far. Despite Russia having only 50 fighters on the BRAVE CF roster compared to Brazil's 98 and fewer world champions, three compared to Brazil's five, Russian fighters have dominated head-to-head clashes. Russia leads with eight wins out of the 11 matchups, while Brazil has secured only three victories.

The first Brazil vs. Russia fight took place at BRAVE CF 1, when Gadzhimusa Gaziev beat Tiago Vieira, inaugurating the score for Russia. At BRAVE CF 4, future Light Heavyweight champion Klidson Abreu tied the score for Brazil with a beautiful submission, defeating Artur Guseinov via rear-naked choke. But then Velimurad Alkhasov, Ikram Aliskerov, and Akhmed Magomedov secured huge victories for Team Russia, making sure that the score was never to be tied. While Luan Santiago and Bruno Assis claimed wins for Brazil later, Azamat Murzakanov, and Bair Shtepin restored Russia’s dominance.

In the most recent showdown at BRAVE CF 49, Gadzhimusa Gaziev defeated Geraldo Neto, giving Russia an 8-3 lead in the rivalry. Kamal Magomedov will aim to continue this trend and keep the Super Welterweight title in Russia at BRAVE CF 89 in Spain.

However, Luiz Cado, riding a three-fight win streak with all finishes, seeks to become Brazil's sixth BRAVE CF champion. A victory would not only crown him but also boost Brazilian fighters’ morale in future contests against their Russian counterparts. Cado is eager to join the stellar company of Klidson Abreu, Lucas Mineiro, Luan Santiago, Cleiton Silva, and Daniel Pereira as the BRAVE CF world champions out of Brazil. Kamal Magomedov, on the other hand, is joined by Roman Bogatov and Azamat Murzakanov as the world champions from Russia.
