Background
PFL Europe is headed to Scotland for the first time, as the 2024 playoffs head to the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow for a huge night of MMA action.
Scottish MMA pioneer Stevie “Braveheart” Ray will headline against Wales’ Lewis “The Captain” Long in a Welterweight bout, and is excited to put on a show in front of his home crowd this September for the first time since 2017. In the co-main event will be his Scottish compatriot Robert “The Hammer” Whiteford in a bout against Roger “El Matador” Huerta in a fascinating match-up 150-pound contract weight bout.
Glasgow will also see 16 fighters across 4 weight classes battle it out in the coveted 2024 season playoffs, where the athletes will “Win & Advance” to the finals in Lyon this December for a chance to win $100,000 and the PFL Europe Championship, or “Lose & Go Home” and exit the bracket.
Starting the night off will be some of Scottish MMA’s ‘Next Generation’ of talent, including Lorenzo Parente, Mark Ewen and Kunle Lawal amongst a packed night of elite European MMA talent.
“We are going to put on an MMA spectacle in Glasgow this September and make it a truly memorable debut for PFL in Scotland.” said Dan Hardy. “Glasgow is a city brimming with talent, and we’re getting excited to fill the card with not only Europe’s finest, but with a real focus on Scotland’s future MMA stars.”
