Background
Ultimate Warrior Challenge Mexico (UWC) will return to the Zonkeys Arena in Tijuana on Sunday, September 8, with a program of six professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fights.
This will be the second time this year that the longest-running company in Mexican MMA brings its show to the home of the Pacific Coast Basketball Circuit (Cibacopa) team.
“In April we had an event there, which was the first time we organized at that venue, and due to calendar issues we had not been able to return, but everything is now ready for UWC 55 to be held at Arena Zonkeys.
“We are yet to announce the full program, but we know that there will be six high-caliber professional fights, it will be event number five of our 2024 season on UFC Fight Pass,” said Alejandro Islas.
The UWC president noted that all fights, as well as the event itself, will be sanctioned by the Tijuana Boxing and MMA Commission, and there will be free admission for the general section.
“We have always said that UWC seeks out the best fighters in Latin America and the best prospects in the sport, which is why so many UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fighters have been born with us.
"We now have a good group of youngsters who are about to make the leap, such as Eduardo 'More' Vázquez Díaz, who will be in action on September 8 in the main part of the program," Islas added.
To date, nearly 20 fighters have made the jump to the UFC after belonging to UWC, such as the case of the company's former flyweight champion, Ensenada native Jesús "Le Guillotine" Aguilar (11-2-0), who just won his third fight at UFC 305 in Australia.
