Background
Don’t miss an absolutely STACKED CFFC 133 this Friday night at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa headlined by a historic Champ vs. Champ fight to unify the Lightweight Title!
Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) history will be made on Friday, July 26, when the organization returns to Tampa's Florida State Fairgrounds to host the first title unification bout in company history at "CFFC 133: Watley vs. Forest."
In the night's main event, reigning CFFC lightweight champion Rob "Contact" Watley (14-3) faces undefeated interim titleholder Morquez "Black Clover" Forest (5-0), with the winner emerging as the undisputed champ at 155 pounds.
Additionally, a pair of No. 1 contender matchups have already been confirmed for the card, as Tampa's own Max "The CandyMan" Quinones (5-1) takes on Miami's Gustavo "Pretty Boy" Villamil (6-2) to determine the next title challenger at flyweight, while light heavyweight knockout artist Phillip "The Doctor" Latu (6-1) takes on top Canadian prospect Steve McDonald (4-1) for a chance at a title shot at 205 pounds.
Also set for the event are bantamweights Matt Allison (2-1) vs. Bimysola "Naija Boy" Attobra (2-2) and heavyweights Anthony "The Daywalker" Guarascio (2-0) vs. Giorgi Kvirtchishvili (1-0), while former CFFC lightweight champion Blake Smith (7-4) returns against two-time CFFC veteran Keith Speed (5-7).
"We're looking forward to another incredible night of action in Florida, and it features a fantastic main event between the inspirational comeback story that is Rob Watley and a fast-rising superstar in Tampa's own Morquez Forest," CFFC CEO Rob Haydak said. "The winner will walk away with bragging rights and the undisputed CFFC lightweight title, and it's going to be an incredible finish to another stacked fight card featuring some of the brightest talent in Florida and beyond."
Watley returned from a nearly four-year layoff this past July to claim the CFFC lightweight title with a dominant win over then-champ Cedric Gunnison that earned him a UFC FIGHT PASS award for 2023's "Storyline of the Year." The 34-year-old "Contact" then registered a successful defense of his title with a third-round submission of Armando Gjetja in December and is now hoping a win over a dangerous undefeated prospect will earn him another shot in one of MMA's top international promotions.
Meanwhile, Forest has quickly developed a reputation for exciting performances and has proven his ability to finish fights in an instant. "Black Clover" held CFFC NextGen gold in his amateur career, and his professional run has been contested entirely under the CFFC banner, including his most impressive performance to date in April, when he submitted a then-undefeated Robert Varricchio to claim an interim title. Now Forest looks for undisputed status as he faces his most experienced opponent to date.
Considered one of the best developmental mixed martial arts organizations in the world, Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) hosts events across the United States with an emphasis on cultivating the best and brightest talent in the sport.
