The promotion will return to Southern California in August. The stacked event will feature a Championship Doubleheader in the flyweight and featherweight divisions, when the promotion returns to the Los Angeles metro area. LFA 190 will be the nineteenth LFA event to take place in the Golden State.
LFA 190, takes place Friday, August 23rd at The Commerce Casino & Hotel in Commerce, California, which is located in southeast Los Angeles County. The main event will feature a flyweight title unification bout when champion Eduardo Chapolin faces interim champion Igor Siqueira. The co-main event will feature an interim featherweight title fight when Brazilian knockout artist Lerryan “Dougie” Douglas faces top Colombian prospect Javier “Blair” Reyes.
“We are excited to bring a Championship Doubleheader to Southern California at LFA 190,” stated LFA CEO Ed Soares. “The main event will see the third title unification bout in LFA history when LFA flyweight champion Eduardo Chapolin battles LFA interim flyweight champion Igor Siqueira. These are the top two flyweights in the world currently fighting outside the UFC and they hail from opposite ends of Brazil. Then in the co-main event, the LFA interim featherweight title will be on the line when Brazilian dynamo Lerryan “Dougie” Douglas faces Colombian superstar Javier “Blair” Reyes. The winner will then get a chance to unify the title against current champion Elijah Johns later this year.”
Chapolin (12-2) grew up in Buritama, São Paulo, Brazil. This is just across the Tietê River from Birigui in the northwest area of the state of São Paulo. Birigui is the hometown of UFC star and LFA great Tabatha “Baby Shark” Ricci, who is Chapolin’s longtime friend and training partner. After making his LFA debut in Brazil in the summer of 2022, Chapolin moved to the United States to rejoin Ricci stateside, where they now train together in Ventura, California. This led to his American-soil debut, where he defeated fellow Brazilian fighter Leandro Soares at LFA 165. The 28-year-old is a veteran of nearly 70 kickboxing fights and won kickboxing titles in Brazil and Japan. This world-class striking pedigree was on full display when he knocked out LFA flyweight champion Cody Davis to capture the title at LFA 172. He now looks to solidify his throne with his first title defense.
Siqueira (10-2) is a man that lives by the Latin aphorism “carpe diem”. The 30-year-old native of Moju, Pará, Brazil was set to headline LFA 180 in Kentucky at the end of March, when his opponent Kevin Fernandez withdrew with an injury on the week of the fight. As fate would have it, Jordan Harris also withdrew from his title fight taking place the following week at LFA 181. Siqueira was already on his flight stateside, when this happened, and immediately agreed to step in for Harris and fight for the interim title a week later. However, his stay in Minnesota was brief, as he knocked out top undefeated prospect Eimar Hernandez in 67-seconds to capture the interim title. That opportunity became available when Chapolin was injured and withdrew from his first title defense against Hernandez. Once his original replacement Harris also withdrew, Siqueira “seized the day”.
The co-main event of LFA 190 will feature an interim featherweight title fight between two of South America’s most electrifying prospects as Douglas (10-5) and Reyes (18-3) vie to become the LFA’s eighth featherweight champion. This interim opportunity became available to both men as the promotion await the return of its sitting champion Elijah Johns. The champion is expected to fight the winner of Douglas vs. Reyes in a title unification bout later this year. Douglas and Reyes both earned their shot at LFA gold the last time the promotion visited California at LFA 184. Douglas was the first to make a statement, when he showed shades of his mentor Cub Swanson by scoring a terrifying standing TKO win against Nate Ghareeb in the second round of their tilt. Two bouts later, Reyes proved that the hype is real as Colombia’s top MMA prospect dismantled LFA veteran and Dana White’s Contender Series alum Chase Gibson. The end came in the third round when the Parkour expert put an end to things via ground n’ pound from the full mount.
