Background
Fireworks are set to explode, as the world’s largest martial arts organization kicks off the month in style at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium with ONE Fight Night 22: Sundell vs. Diachkova on Prime Video, which broadcasts live in U.S. primetime on Friday, May 3.
In the main event, two of the most dangerous Muay Thai stars on the planet will throw down for the richest prize in the sport.
Towering ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion Smilla “The Hurricane” Sundell has dominated the competition since her promotional debut two years ago, and the teenage sensation looks to display her prodigious talent once again and extend her historic title run.
But standing across from her will be surging Russian knockout artist Natalia Diachkova, who poses the biggest threat to her reign. The 29-year-old powerhouse has ripped through every single opponent during her time in ONE Championship, and she is motivated to do the same to Sundell and dethrone the division’s inaugural queen.
In addition, the spectacle will feature an electric featherweight MMA showdown between undefeated finishers Akbar Abdullaev and Halil Amir. Plus, hard-hitting veterans Sinsamut Klinmee and Dmitry Menshikov make their highly anticipated returns with an eye toward Regian Eersel’s ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title.
A ONE Women's Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship bout between current champion Smilla Sundell and Natalia Diachkova is expected to headline the event.
Former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing Champion Hiroki Akimoto is expected to return after a 1-year and 5-month hiatus against former K-1 Lightweight Champion and promotional newcomer Wei Rui in a bantamweight kickboxing bout.
