Background
The card for the promotion’s February 23rd showcase is rapidly taking shape, with a number of blockbuster bouts already confirmed.
Chief among them is the return of San Diego favourite Wilson Reis, as the MMA legend takes on Bellator veteran Toby ‘2 Quick’ Misech.
Reis will be moving up to the featherweight division for the first time since March 2022, when he earned a points win over Jeremiah Labiano at CW 133. The San Diego-based Brazilian is 3-1 since re-joining the promotion, and will be looking to return to winning ways following a tightly-contested split decision loss to fellow UFC veteran Trevin Jones in September.
Also in search of a return to the winners’ circle is his opponent, Hawaii’s Toby Misech. A well-travelled striker, Misech holds a win over UFC veteran Erik ‘Goyito’ Perez, and competed on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2018.
CW 166 will play host to the highly anticipated return of former two-weight CW champion Mason ‘The Dragon’ Jones.
The Welshman is currently riding a two-fight winning streak in the promotion following his run in the UFC, with both victories coming by way of stoppage.
He’ll meet newcomer Bryce Logan, who enters the bout on the back of a win over Conor McGregor teammate Peter Queally.
Another local favourite is also confirmed to appear, as Bobby ‘The Ghost’ Winther looks to keep his undefeated pro record intact as he steps into the Cage Warriors cage for the third time.
With two quick finishes under his belt (most recently netting a sub-90 second submission over Anthony Zaragoza at CW 165, Winther will take another step up in competition when he faces fellow unbeaten prospect Devin Goodale.
The 30-year-old Goodale (4-0), also a San Diego native, straps on the Famous Yellow Gloves for the second time, having previously dispatched Joshua Nakagawa in the first round of their March 2022 bout. The American hasn’t competed since, and will be looking for a return to the form that has seen him go undefeated in five professional contests.
Also confirmed for the card, heavyweight fan favourite Elijah ‘Mr Samoa’ Harris is back in CW action for the first time since June 2023, as he welcomes newcomer Kelvin Fitial to the promotion. ‘The Big Hit’ has finished 14 of his 15 victories within the distance.
Elsewhere on the card, Corvan Allen meets Xavier Vines, heavyweights collide as Sean Rose and Diego Vazquez throw down, there’s a 195lb catchweight contest between Chace Eskam and Ilias Faquiri, and Chasen Blair looks to get back to winning ways against submission ace Orlando Sanders.
