Background
LFA will return to Colorado at the end of October. LFA 170 will feature a high-stakes welterweight showdown between two of the promotion’s biggest stars when the LFA returns to the Rocky Mountains. LFA 170 will be the fifth LFA event to take place in the Colorado resort town of Vail. Overall, this will be the eleventh LFA event to take place in the state of Colorado. RFA hosted eight events in the “Centennial State” before the merger of RFA and Legacy FC that created LFA.
LFA 170: Talundžić vs. Frunza takes place Friday, October 27th at the Dobson Arena in Vail, Colorado. The main event will feature a welterweight showdown between promotional stars and top European prospects Haris “The Bosnian Silverback” Talundžić and Daniel “Tigano” Frunza.
“We are excited to bring the LFA and our first All-European main event to the beautiful resort town of Vail, Colorado,” stated LFA CEO Ed Soares. “Haris Talundžić is from Bosnia and Herzegovina, while Daniel Frunza was born in nearby Romania. The two countries are less than an hour apart by plane and produce some of the finest athletes in the world. Now we will get to see their top welterweight prospects compete in the Rockies at LFA 170.”
Talundžić (6-1) has become one of the most intriguing prospects in MMA after signing with the LFA in 2021. The 27-year-old is a native of Sarajevo, which is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Born one week after the end of The Bosnian War, Talundžić and his family emigrated from their homeland located in the Balkans in southeastern Europe to find a more peaceful life in the United States. They settled in Nebraska where Talundžić excelled in wrestling. He became a top-ranked NSWCA wrestler at Grand Island Senior High School before crossing over into MMA and becoming the #1 amateur welterweight in the Midwest. “The Bosnian Silverback” ended his amateur career on an 8-fight win streak and has competed for the LFA in 6 of his 7 bouts as a professional. The Team Elevation product now looks to ascend the rankings in the main event of LFA 170.
Frunza (7-2) returns to the LFA after making one of the most memorable promotional debuts this year. The 29-year-old is a native of Răducăneni, Romania, which is located in the eastern part of the country. He signed with the LFA in the summer of 2023 and was immediately placed in the co-main event of LFA 164 against former LFA title challenger Jalin Fuller. The bout took place in El Paso and Fuller had the house packed with fans from the southwest as he looked to rebound from his most recent title fight appearance. However, “Tigano” never gave Fuller a chance and dispatched the fellow knockout artist with vicious power punching. The initial right hand was used to counter Fuller’s vaunted head kick and the Romanian followed that shot with a series of precision punching that caused the first round knockout. He now returns in his first headlining bout for the promotion.
