Background
It is official, Badr Hari (106-16, 92 KO) will compete at GLORY 89 in Burgas, Bulgaria, on October 7. Originally set to compete at GLORY 88 in Paris earlier this month, Hari withdrew on compassionate grounds following the devastating earthquake which struck his home country of Morocco.
The kickboxing legend will now go head-to-head with Estonia’s Uku Jürjendal (19-8, 15 KO) with the winner qualifying for the GLORY Heavyweight Grand Prix this December.
“We are excited to provide a quick turnaround and get Badr Hari back in the ring,” said Robbie Timmers, GLORY matchmaker. “Unfortunately, James McSweeney has scheduling conflicts and could not compete on the new date. As a result, Uku Jürjendal has thankfully stepped up. This will be an action-packed contest.”
The event is expected to be headlined by a title bout between Glory featherweight champion Petpanomrung Kiatmuu9 and the promotional newcomer David Mejia. A lightweight rematch between former Glory Lightweight Championship challenger Stoyan Koprivlenski and former Colosseum Tournament World Lightweight Champion Sorin Căliniuc is expected to serve as the co-headliner.
