Background
The final stretch towards the Mixed Martial Arts (AMM) event, UWC 42: Luna vs. Matos,
begins with the programming of the Fight Week activities, which include the
weigh-in ceremony and the press conference.
Next Friday, March 31, will be the second function of Ultimate Warrior Challenge
Mexico (UWC) at the Entram Gym facilities, in Tijuana, Baja California, but before that
there will be other activities.
“From Wednesday, fighters from abroad will begin to arrive in the city but, obviously,
we have another group that is already here and accessible to the media outside of
their training sessions.
"On Thursday we will have a lot of activity, all focused on our host hotel, Palacio
Azteca, where both the weigh-in ceremony and the press conference will take place, as well as the
photography and video session for the fighters," said Alejandro Islas.
The president of UWC explained that there are nine professional fights on the
program, three of them in the preliminary stage to be broadcast starting at 4:00 p.m. on
Facebook and YouTube.
While the Main Card starts at 6:00 p.m. (Tijuana time) with six
fights on the program to be broadcast through UFC Fight Pass, being the star for the
company's Bantamweight Championship.
On Thursday, the medical examination of the fighters will start at 9:00 a.m. at
Palacio Azteca and the official Weigh-In Ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m., which can be seen live
through our Facebook page.
Also that day the fighters will be available in the morning, in the
hotel lobby, for interviews with the media once they have finished weighing in
for the event.
The same Thursday, but at 1:00 p.m., will be the press conference where both the
president of the company, Alejandro Islas, and the four participants in the main and co-main fights
of the night will be present.
The star fight of the night will be for the Bantamweight Championship with the monarch Adrián Luna
Martinetti (11-1-0), from Guayaquil, Ecuador, to defend against Adonilton “Dony Terrier” Matos
(26-10-0, 1 NC), from Serrinha, Bahia, Brazil.
The co-feature of the night will also be at 135 pounds when Juan Pablo “Molo”
González (9-4-2), from Buenos Aires, Argentina, faces Bryan “Zurdito” Martínez (5-3-0), from
Team Blackxicans, from Ensenada, Baja California.
For Middleweight (185 pounds), Jesús Wong (5-3-0), from the
Power Fit Gym, from Hermosillo, Sonora, and Víctor “Striking Viking” Kuiks (3-0-0), from Amsterdam,
the Netherlands , will be in action. .
In a special duel in Bantamweight, Jessie “Tachidito” Rosas (3-0-0), from 10th
Planet Jiu JItsu Las Vegas, returns to collide with the also undefeated Alejandro Quero (2-0-0), from Top
Team International Calmecac GT, from Valle de Chalco, State of Mexico.
In the preliminaries, in the 125-pound division, former champion Soslenis “Grilinho”
Carvalho (15-13-0), from Vaginha, Minas Gerais, Brazil, will meet Hugo Torres (5-1-0), from
Durango, Durango .
UWC 42 will take place on Friday, March 31, at the Entram Gym facilities,
