“Masquerado” Will Defend the Flyweight Championship at UWC 41
The Ultimate Warrior Challenge Mexico (UWC) Flyweight Championship will be at stake on Friday,
February 24 when the monarch Joao "Mascarado" Camilo returns to activity at the
UWC 41 function.
The return to activity of the longest-running Mexican company in
Mixed Martial Arts (AMM) will be based at Entram Gym, in Tijuana, Baja California, in an event that will mark
the company's 14th anniversary.
“We are already going to celebrate 14 years in this job, with 40 professional events and close to
ten amateurs in that time, and in this 2023 we are going to have ten additional functions, all to be
broadcast on UFC Fight Pass.
"We are pleased to announce that the stellar duel for February will have Joao Camilo back
, who last year won the 125-pound title, which has been one of the
most fought over in recent years," explained Alejandro Islas.
The UWC president indicated that Camilo (8-6-1) has declared himself ready for his first
challenger of 2023, in a five-round bout, five minutes each, and sanctioned by the
Tijuana Boxing and AMM Commission.

The Aparecida de Goiânia, Brazil native captured the title on May 27, 2022
when he outpointed Soslenis “Grilinho” Carvalho (15-12-0) with a chopstick submission in the fifth
of their bout.
The first defense of the Championship was contemplated for the month of September
but, due to the challenger's health, the fight was modified to the 135-
pound division and without a title at stake.
Now the Ultimate Kombat Fitness (UKF) out of Phoenix, Arizona hopes
to shine his belt when he headlines the first UWC event of 2023 at the same venue
he ascended to the throne in 2022.
The Brazilian is considered one of the best Latin Americans in the
125-pound division and is the fifth flyweight champion in UWC history, one of the most
active weights in the company.
One of the previous UWC flyweight champions has already been called by the Ultimate Fighting
Championship (UFC), Jesús Aguilar (8-1-0), who reigned during 2020 with
a great defense.
Braian "Prototype" González
The golden opportunity will come for the Argentine Braian "Prototype" González on February 24
when he challenges for the Flyweight Championship in the stellar duel of the company Ultimate Warrior
Challenge Mexico (UWC).
The fighter from San Miguel de Tucumán, who has a professional record of 10-2-0,
is ready to face the monarch João “Mascarado” Camilo Neto (8-6-1), from
Aparecida de Goiânia, Brazil.
“Braian González deserves the opportunity, since he arrived at the UWC he has shown
great capacity in the cage and little by little he rose in the 125-pound classification until
he reached this stellar duel.
"It will be the seventh time that the Flyweight Championship will be at stake, and we have had
five champions, which speaks of how disputed this weight is in our history, and
we know that it will be another great duel between Camilo and González"; Alejandro Islas said.
The UWC president indicated that the fight for the 125-pound title will be the
main duel in the evening of eight fights, with five rounds, five minutes each, and
sanctioned by the Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts Commission (AMM ) from Tijuana.
González, who has been part of Entram Gym since 2021, in the UWC cage has looked
strong by amassing a 4-1-0 mark, and he has already faced the Brazilian once but in a fight
where the sash was not at stake .
On September 30, 2022, at the UWC 38 event, González pinch entered
against the announcer of Ultimate Kombat Fitness (UKF), from Phoenix, Arizona, in a
Bantamweight matchup.
That night the Argentine offered a preview of what could happen this February 24
by scoring the victory by unanimous decision by keeping the fight on foot and avoiding the
attack plan of the Flyweight Champion.
“We are excited for this rematch, a worthy fight to celebrate our
14th anniversary of activity, and more so now that the Flyweight division is ringing again in Mexico
thanks to Brandon Moreno.
"And it will be one of two championship fights that we will have for our
anniversary show, which serves as the start of our 2023 season where again
we will have ten shows," he said.
