Background

LUX Fight League will close its 2022 season in December with two titles in dispute from Mexico City.

LUX 029 will be the promotions tenth Mixed Martial Arts event of this year, thus surpassing the record of eight events held the previous year, and will be held on Friday, December 9 at Frontón México in Mexico City, which marks the return of Sergio 'Drako' Cossio from Durango, who will go up to the cage to dispute the “LUX Fight League Lightweight World Title” against Argentine Fernando 'Pitbull' Martínez in a duel highly demanded by LUX fans.

'Drako', with a professional record of 24-8-1, and who until the end of May of this year was the undisputed champion of the division, vacated the lightweight belt after exceeding the weight allowed in his last defense against the Costa Rican Edgar 'Cebollero' Delgado who he later defeated by knockout in the last second of the first round, a move that was considered a highlight during May on UFC Fight Pass.

That victory during "LUX 022" earned 'Drako', currently ranked number 7 lightweight in Latin America, to be considered the first contender for the 155-pound title, which he has kept under his control since February 2020 and will now seek recover in a 5-round duel during the star fight of the night.

On the other hand, his rival, 'Pitbull' Martínez (23-13-1 record), was in charge of putting his name on the list of contenders for the title after his debut with a victory against the former UFC fightter, Polo 'Toro' Reyes in the co-main fight of “LUX 018” held in Acapulco during November 2021, a triumph that earned him the record of being the longest-serving fighter to obtain a victory within the LUX Fight League (41 years, 9 months).

The Argentine, who is already 42 years old, assured, after his last appearance in the Octagon that, 'he always wants more, I don't want to retire', and next Friday, December 9, he will have a new opportunity to demonstrate why he is considered one of the strongest rivals in the lightweight division in LUX and also in Latin America.

In the co-main event, the current LUX 135-pound champion, Marco 'Psycho' Beltrán, will face José Roura from Puebla. Both will dispute the "LUX Fight League World Bantamweight Title" in an MMA duel also agreed to a maximum of 5 rounds.

Beltrán, 36 years old and with a record of 17-7-0, is the only champion of the division since he acquired the belt in March 2019 in the fight that opened the title of a division that today houses great Latin American talents; a division that has been completely dominated by the Michoacan with 3 title defenses inside the LUX Fight League cage.

The former participant of the television program "Exatlón México" developed part of his professional career within the UFC where he achieved 3 wins and 3 losses between 2014 and 2017, facing rivals such as Marlon 'Chito' Vera and Deiveson Figuereido, to later continue his career in LUX, where he has already fought a total of 5 fights and which currently ranks him in the 'Top 10' of the best bantamweights in all of Latin America .

José Roura, meanwhile, at 34 years old and with an MMA record of 6-2-0, will seek to overthrow Beltrán's reign with a previous record of 5 victories and only one loss within the organization; 3 of those victories by way of completion.

Roura, a native of Puebla, will seek to be crowned the new LUX champion and thus bring back a new belt from the organization to "Brazilian Warriors", a gym located in the same city where he trains with his teachers Alessandro 'Nono' Costa, current champion LUX Fight League flyweight, and Diego Lopes, former champion in the featherweight category.
