Combat Jiu-Jitsu Worlds 2020: The Female Flyweights is an upcoming grappling tourament event scheduled for December 19, 2020 at the Riviera Maya in Cancun, Mexico.

Combat Jiu Jitsu is back in a big way towards the end of 2020 as Eddie Bravo’s brainchild has just announced the first ever Female Flyweights lineup for the World Championship in December. This comes less than a month after the next CJJ World Championship event, the men’s Lightweight division in November. Half of the women competing for the title are more than used to strikes on the ground, as they’re currently competing for Invicta FC. Pearl Gonzalez is the most experienced MMA fighter in attendance, as an ex-UFC competitor and having fought for the Invicta FC Flyweight title as recently as last year.
Joining her are a pair of five-fight Invicta veterans, Liz Tracy and Jillian Decoursey. Although the second-most experienced MMA competitor fighting for the title is actually Jessica Delboni, a Brazilian who owns an impressive 10-2 record. Another strong favorite is Nikki Sullivan, a black belt under Andre Galvao who has won the IBJJF Masters World Championship at both brown and black belt. Rachael Cummins joins the lineup as well and brings some experience in MMA, along with her grappling experience as an EBI veteran. Fellow EBI 12 competitor with a history in the cage, Gabby Romero, will also be competing at the event.
These seven women will be joined by something of a wild card competitor in Nina Navid. She has won the IBJJF British Nationals at brown belt and is currently an instructor at Roger Gracie’s headquarters in London. It’ll be interesting to see if either she or Nikki Sullivan can use their grappling advantage to overcome the opponents who might have more experience with striking on the ground.
Alongside the fantastic Female Flyweights world championship lineup, there will also be two more Combat Jiu Jitsu superfights on the card. CJJ Middleweight World Champion Dan Martinez will take on 10th Planet’s Kyle Boehm, and Hunter Colvin faces off against ADCC Semi-Finalist and another 10th planet black belt, Jon “Thor” Blank.
The full event will be streamed live on 20th December on UFC FightPass.
