Come on dudes. Are you saying Vaseline gives no advantage?
I hope not, because if you do, then you probably have never rolled with a Ju Jitsu guy.
BJ Penn never had a chance in a straight up wrestling match, or arm wrestling or weight lifting match against the obviously much more powerful GSP. That never was a factor in accepting the fight: he never intended to match power against power.
His WHOLE game plan was to beat GSP with a submission, or get knocked out trying.
As soon as GSP got that grease on him, BJ's game was finished, from the get-go, right out of the gate. He had no chance after that. You simply cannot grapple with someone that has greased their clean-shaven body.
For those who say the outcome would have been the same either way my question is "How do you know that"? You really are just speculating if you want to be straight up about it. Don't get me wrong, since I pretty much agree with your speculation. But it is still speculation. What you are really saying is that the outcome PROBABLY would have been the same.
But that is the funny thing about cheating... any kind of cheating. If the stronger man cheats, he will rob the underdog of the opportunity to upset your conclusions. And what is MMA if there are no upsets- if every fight goes as expected?
When GSP's man cheated like that, he didn't just rob BJ Penn of a legitimate opportunity; he robbed all of the fans of seeing a fair, decisive, conclusive outcome.
That's why I am calling for a GSP-Penn III
