Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley has all but confirmed he will be fighting Josh Koscheck next - and says the fight will be very soon. The fight is a big step up for him in the welterweight division and could catapult him into contender status if he wins.

“Has had some good news, I will be back in the Octagon, Much sooner than i thought....Ready to kick one Fraggle haired customers ass......Naming no names, try guess who?” Daley posted via a social networking site earlier.

For those that aren’t familiar with Fraggles, they are the puppet cast of a 1980s television series called Fraggle Rock, which was popular in the US, Canada and the UK. Created by legendary puppeteer Jim Henson they were particularly dishevelled-looking, hence Daley’s comment on Koscheck’s hair.

There is an interesting dimension to the fight in that Koscheck (pictured, right) represents American Kickboxing Academy while Daley represents Rough House. Daley’s team mate Dan Hardy has already had plenty to say about Koscheck and holds a win over his team mate Mike Swick.

Daley did not say what show he would be appearing on, but UFC 111 features Dan Hardy against Georges St. Pierre, making it not unlikely that Daley-Koscheck could be added to that card.

Cant wait for this !!!

That is going to be an awesome fight. Kosheck has prooven to be harder to get by then anyone thought and he is always improving. Semtex on the other hand has explosives in his fists and this is promisisng to be one of the better fights of this year :)

Awesome matchup!

If health permits, Josh Koscheck meets Paul Daley at UFC 113 in Montreal

It looks like the Brit got half of what he wants.

Mere weeks after calling out Thiago Alves and Josh Koscheck in the wake of a stunning knockout of Dustin Hazelett, U.K. striker Paul Daley (23-8-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and Koscheck (14-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) are expected to meet at UFC 113 in Montreal on May 1.

Sources close to the negotiations informed MMAjunkie.com (http://www.mmajunkie.com) that the two have verbally agreed to the match-up, though an undisclosed injury to Koscheck that scrapped his expected UFC 109 rematch with Paulo Thiago could hold up contracts from being signed.

The as-yet-unannounced UFC 113 event is expected to take place at the Bell Centre and features a rematch between light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.

Daley, who trains alongside UFC fighters Dan Hardy, Ross Pearson, Andre Winner and Nick Osipczak, has had a lightning-fast rise to the upper echelon of the welterweight division with back-to-back impressive victories over Martin Kampmann and Hazelett.

In an interview with MMAjunkie.com following UFC 108, Daley said he preferred to face Alves because he felt the Brazilian would stand and trade punches, but he felt Koscheck would likely stand with him long enough to do what he loves best: knock people out.

Still, the majority of Daley's losses (a total of five) come from submissions. In October 2008, under the CBS network eye, the Nottingham, England native fought tooth and nail to keep jiu-jitsu specialist Jake Shields from taking him to the mat before tapping to an armbar when the ground specialist toyed with Daley from the mount position.

Koscheck, a former NCAA Divison I wrestling champion, needs no primer on the ground game, and his stand-up skills have developed a reputation of their own. He has stopped five of his 16 UFC opponents with strikes, which included recent highlight-reel stoppages of Frank Trigg, Yoshiyuki Yoshida and Hazelett.

Koscheck has long coveted a rematch with Georges St-Pierre for the welterweight title, but a logjam of talent at American Kickboxing Academy and losses to Alves and Thiago have delayed that chance.

Most recently, Koscheck eluded Anthony Johnson's dangerous striking to win a rear-naked choke victory at UFC 106, a bout marred by repeated stoppages due to inadvertent eye pokes.

Koscheck vs. Daley is expected for the main card of UFC 113.

Also at 113 is Slice v mitrione

Get ready folks. The "Kimbo Show" is making its way to pay-per-view.

A heavyweight matchup between "The Ultimate Fighter 10" cast members Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson (4-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Matt Mitrione (1-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is currently in the works for the main card of the as-yet-unannounced UFC 113 event in Montreal.

The matchup was first reported by FiveOuncesOfPain.com, and MMAjunkie.com has since learned from sources close to the event that both parties have verbally agreed to the contest, though bout agreements have yet to be finalized.

UFC 113: Josh Koscheck vs Paul Daley co main event set for May 1

Here we go!

British brawler Paul Daley will get his shot at the big time when he collides with perennial welterweight contender, Josh Koscheck, at the upcoming UFC 113 event from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on May 1, 2010.

"Kos" today confirmed the good news via Twitter.com, saying the electric 170-pound showdown will serve as the co main event of the major pay-per-view (PPV) event. And in all likelihood it will determine the next contender in a division stacked with talent.

Even before the stakes were raised with championship implications on the line, this one already had the ingredients for an explosive encounter inside the Octagon and out.

In fact, Daley has already insulted Koscheck, promising that he would "rock" the "Fraggle" if the pair ever touched 'em up, indicating that the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) standout resembles a 1980s-era Jim Henson character.

That's not a compliment.

Star-divide

Daley is as confident as they come and the heavy-handed welterweight striker has been able to back it up with two lethal performances since making his promotional debut.

He torched the title hopes of Martin Kampmann with a first round technical knockout at UFC 103: "Franklin vs. Belfort" and then brutalized grappling whiz Dustin Hazelett at UFC 108: "Evans vs. Silva" with a crushing knockout in hos most recent performance.

Koscheck, meanwhile, has been recovering for an injury that forced him out of a planned rematch against Paulo Thiago at UFC 109: "Relentless" next month.

He has gone on to score two impressive wins since the surprise loss to the Brazilian, stopping Frank Trigg via technical knockout at UFC 103: "Franklin vs. Belfort" back in September and then choking out Anthony Johnson just last month at UFC 106: "Ortiz vs. Griffin 2."

A third straight win could have him -- or "Semtex" --knocking on the door of the winner of Georges St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy.

UFC 113 features the much-anticipated rematch between 205-pound division champion, Lyoto Machida, defending his belt against fellow Brazilian Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the main event of the evening.

Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more on the still-developing Montreal fight card.
