UFC 113: Josh Koscheck vs Paul Daley co main event set for May 1http://www.mmamania.com/2010/1/18/12583 ... ck-vs-paulHere we go!
British brawler Paul Daley will get his shot at the big time when he collides with perennial welterweight contender, Josh Koscheck, at the upcoming UFC 113 event from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on May 1, 2010.
"Kos" today confirmed the good news via Twitter.com, saying the electric 170-pound showdown will serve as the co main event of the major pay-per-view (PPV) event. And in all likelihood it will determine the next contender in a division stacked with talent.
Even before the stakes were raised with championship implications on the line, this one already had the ingredients for an explosive encounter inside the Octagon and out.
In fact, Daley has already insulted Koscheck, promising that he would "rock" the "Fraggle" if the pair ever touched 'em up, indicating that the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) standout resembles a 1980s-era Jim Henson character.
That's not a compliment.
Star-divide
Daley is as confident as they come and the heavy-handed welterweight striker has been able to back it up with two lethal performances since making his promotional debut.
He torched the title hopes of Martin Kampmann with a first round technical knockout at UFC 103: "Franklin vs. Belfort" and then brutalized grappling whiz Dustin Hazelett at UFC 108: "Evans vs. Silva" with a crushing knockout in hos most recent performance.
Koscheck, meanwhile, has been recovering for an injury that forced him out of a planned rematch against Paulo Thiago at UFC 109: "Relentless" next month.
He has gone on to score two impressive wins since the surprise loss to the Brazilian, stopping Frank Trigg via technical knockout at UFC 103: "Franklin vs. Belfort" back in September and then choking out Anthony Johnson just last month at UFC 106: "Ortiz vs. Griffin 2."
A third straight win could have him -- or "Semtex" --knocking on the door of the winner of Georges St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy.
UFC 113 features the much-anticipated rematch between 205-pound division champion, Lyoto Machida, defending his belt against fellow Brazilian Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the main event of the evening.
