LFA 186 will feature a middleweight world title fight when the promotion heads to the “Mile High City” of Denver. This will be the seventh LFA event to be held on a Saturday as it will air live immediately following the broadcast of UFC on ABC 6. The UFC will have an early start time with its debut event in Saudi Arabia. LFA 186 will then follow later that evening with its live Saturday night time slot. It will also be the twelfth LFA event to take place in the state of Colorado. RFA hosted eight events in the “Centennial State” before the merger of RFA and Legacy FC that created LFA.
LFA 186: Bekoev vs. Foxworth, presented by Monster Energy, takes place Saturday, June 22nd at the Magness Arena at the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado.
The main event will feature a middleweight title fight when champion “Iron” Azamat Bekoev defends his title against top contender Chauncey “The Machine” Foxworth.
“We are excited to bring the Middleweight Championship to Colorado at LFA 186,” stated LFA CEO Ed Soares. “Denver is the city where the UFC began over 30 years ago and it is a sports town unlike any other. LFA 186 will take place at Magness Arena, which is home to the University of Denver Pioneers hockey team. This program just celebrated its record-breaking tenth National Championship, which means the Denver community expects championship level performances when they attend this venue. That is exactly what we will be bringing them to kick off our busy summer schedule. The main event will feature the second title defense of LFA middleweight champion Azamat Bekoev. He will face top contender Chauncey Foxworth. This is the perfect title fight for our return to the Mile High City!”
Bekoev (17-3) became the LFA’s tenth middleweight champion when he fought for the interim title last summer at LFA 160. The interim title opportunity became available when the champion Lucas Fernando was preparing to headline Week 1 of the seventh season of Dana White’s Contender Series. Bekoev defeated top prospect Dylan Budka in a back-and-forth brawl, which saw Bekoev become the first fighter from Russia to capture LFA gold. Coincidentally, Budka would then step up as a last-minute replacement on Dana White’s Contender Series just four weeks after Fernando competed on the show. Only Budka would secure a UFC contract. Bekoev never lost focus and picked up his third LFA win of 2023 by unifying the title against Fernando at LFA 173. Now the 28-year-old looks to become the most dominant middleweight champion in LFA history.
Foxworth (19-9) is a man looking to watch his career in the LFA come full circle with a title around his waist. The Arkansas native has enjoyed a busy career dating back the past dozen years. Overall, he has competed over 40 times with 28 of those bouts coming as a pro. Moreover, he has roots in the promotion dating back to 2014, when he competed as an amateur for Legacy FC. “The Machine” then went on to fight as a pro for the promotion at LFA 4 just one month after the merger of RFA and Legacy FC that created the LFA. He won that bout and another at LFA 18 with both wins coming against local favorites. However, the 32-year-old has found another gear over the past four years. In that time, he has defeated ten of the last eleven men he has faced. Seven of those wins came against LFA veterans with one being against former LFA title challenger Tim Hiley.
