http://mmamania.com/2009/08/03/ufc-104- ... more-14335There’s a fantastic lightweight match-up brewing between 155-pound standouts Joe Stevenson (30-10) and Spencer Fisher (23-4), who are currently in talks to hook ‘em up at UFC 104 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on Oct. 24.
A source close to Fisher informed MMAmania.com of the pending bout earlier today.
“Daddy” — who was the TUF 2 welterweight winner — returned to form at The Ultimate Finale 9 by outworking Nate Diaz en route to a decisive unanimous decision victory.
It was a much needed win for the former 170-pounder after losing back-to-back bouts to current division number one contender Kenny “KenFlo” Florian and the new-look Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez in a close unanimous decision scrap.
The newly-minted Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt will look to make it two straight with a win over “The King.”
Fisher has won four of his last five bouts, including a close unanimous decision nod over the returning Caol Uno at UFC 99 back on June 13.
The Miletich Fighting Systems veteran is a former top contender in the 155-pound class with an exceptionally well rounded arsenal. A win over an opponent the caliber of Stevenson will prove once again that he still belongs among the division’s elite.
In fact, the same can be said for both men.
UFC 104 will feature a main event between UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida and challenger Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez have also been rumored to collide to determine the UFC number one heavyweight contender.
