Post subject: Dennis Bermudez as 'The Ultimate Fighter 14' blogger
PostPosted: Thu Sep 22, 2011 8:49 pm
MMAjunkie.com is pleased to announce that cast member Dennis "The Menace" Bermudez (7-2) has joined the site as a guest blogger for "The Ultimate Fighter 14."

Beginning next week, the 24-year-old fighter will pen an exclusive blog each Thursday to discuss the previous night's episode.

Bermudez, a native New Yorker, earned his spot in this season's featherweight tournament with an elimination-round victory over Jimmie Rivera on the debut episode of "TUF 14."

The win didn't come easy, as Bermudez was staggered in the opening frame before rallying back for a second-round TKO win.

"He definitely took it to me the first round," Bermudez said. "But I knew I had it in the second round. I was just super-confident and believed in myself.

"I'll be honest though, the whole experience was surreal. I had to take a step back. It almost didn't seem real."

The win scored Bermudez a spot in the eight-man bracket, and he'll share his thoughts on each episode, as well as reveal some behind-the-scenes information, in this season's blog

"I'm a bit of a goofy guy – kind of a joker by nature," Bermudez said. "But I went into this season very focused. I was there on a mission, and I'm excited for the opportunity to work with MMAjunkie.com and give everyone the inside scoop on what was going down."

"TUF 14," the latest installment of the UFC's long-running reality series, is the final edition of the series to air on Spike TV. UFC middleweight contenders Michael Bisping and Jason "Mayhem" Miller serve as coaches, and the tournament concludes with a live finale on Dec. 3.

"MMAjunkie.com has always been very fortunate to have insightful bloggers who really help provide a greater understanding of the experience of being on the show," MMAjunkie.com editor-in-chief Dann Stupp said. "Dennis showed a ton of heart in his elimination-round fight, and we think his unique personality and high-energy style will come through both on the show as well as in his blog."

Bermudez currently owns a 7-2 record as a professional. A Massapequa, N.Y., resident, Bermudez opened his career with seven straight wins before dropping back-to-back fights in late 2010. However, Bermudez relocated to Long Island Mixed Martial Arts prior to his time on the show and said he entered the "TUF 14" tourney with a rejuvenated focus

Bermudez's first blog runs Sept. 29 on MMAjunkie.com, and he hopes that readers will quickly become a part of Team Menace.

"If you're a fan of my fighting style, a fan of me, if you own a shirt, if you enjoy watching me fight or you're a sponsor, you're part of Team Menace," Bermudez said. "If you don't know who I am, then you're probably not Team Menace. This season, I'm hoping to drive Team Menace from the East Coast and take it global."

Fans can follow Bermudez at limixedmartialarts.com or on Twitter at @MenaceBermudez.

Past MMAjunkie.com bloggers have included a who's who of "TUF" stars: Ryan Bader ("TUF 8" winner), C.B. Dollaway ("TUF 7" runnerup), DaMarques Johnson ("TUF 9" runnerup), Brendan Schaub ("TUF 10" runnerup), coach Ken Hahn, coach Lew Polley, Seth Baczynski, Chris Camozzi, Chris Cope, Brad Tavares and Luke Zachrich.
