Post subject: Pokrajac-Soszynski Slated for UFC 140 in Toronto
PostPosted: Thu Sep 22, 2011 8:46 pm
The UFC 140 fight bill continues to develop, as the promotion on Thursday announced that a light heavyweight confrontation between Igor Pokrajac and Krzysztof Soszynski will go down at the Dec. 10 event.

Emanating from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, UFC 140 will feature a pivotal heavyweight scrap between former champions Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, as well as a light heavyweight conflict pitting Antonio Rogerio Nogueira against Tito Ortiz. Additionally, former featherweight title challenger Mark Hominick will return to the cage, as “The Machine” meets “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung.

Pokrajac, 32, has won two of his last three bouts. The Croat debuted with the UFC in 2009, falling by unanimous decision to Vladimir Matyushenko and then losing by knockout to James Te Huna five months later in February 2010. Though he rebounded with a victory over James Irvin in his next outing, Pokrajac came up short against Stephan Bonnar at “The Ultimate Fighter 12” Finale in December. Most recently, the eight-year pro earned a technical knockout over Todd Brown at UFC Live 3 in March, as Brown was unable to answer the bell to begin the second round.

Soszynski has found success in the Octagon, posting a 6-2 UFC record following a stint on “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 8. After winning three straight bouts to start his UFC career, “The Polish Experiment” was outpointed by Brandon Vera in 2009. The 34-year-old rebounded with a win over Bonnar, but lost a rematch less than five months later in July 2010. More recently, Soszynski posted back-to-back victories. The Polish-born Canadian first outpointed Pokrajac’s countryman, Goran Reljic, at UFC 122 in November before doing the same to short-notice injury replacement Mike Massenzio on June 11 at UFC 131.
