With the 2010 update for THQ's "UFC Undisputed" series coming in May, the franchise's original edition is now available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 for just $29.99.
THQ officials today announced the new price, as well as the designation of "UFC 2009 Undisputed" as a "Platinum Hits" title for the Xbox 360 and a part of the "Greatest Hits" collection for the PlayStation3.
Today's official release placed worldwide sales of "UFC 2009 Undisputed" at 3.5 million units.
"Reaching 'Platinum Hits' and 'Greatest Hits' status is an honor that speaks to the strength of our software and the power of the UFC brand," THQ Vice President of Global Brand Management Brian Coleman stated. "With a reduced price point, more players can now step into the octagon and take part in the ultimate virtual UFC experience."
"UFC 2009 Undisputed" hit retailers' shelves on May 19, 2009, and UFC president Dana White today confirmed that an updated edition of the annual series will be available on Tuesday, May 25.
"We are excited that so many fans around the world have helped us achieve these impressive milestones in our debut year," UFC president Dana White stated. "'UFC 2009 Undisputed' opened the door for us to further share the UFC brand with videogame and fight fans around the world, and we cannot wait to return this spring with the release of 'UFC Undisputed 2010' on May 25, 2010."
Unlike the 2009 edition, this year's version of "UFC Undisputed" will face some competition.
"EA Sports MMA," a title developed by rival manufacturer Electronic Arts that features fighters from organizations outside of the UFC, is slated for a summer release, though it remains to be seen what type of impact the new game will have on sales of the wildly successful "UFC Undisputed" franchise.

Hehe, indeed. Despite the fact I got 2009 for the 360 and will get 2010 for 360 also, considering how close the 360 and PC are to develop for, it is odd that they don't have a PC version. Can always use a pad with your PC (can imagine using the keyboard would be awful ).

UFC heavyweight champion, pay-per-view king and former WWE superstar Brock Lesnar has earned the cover spot on "UFC 2010 Undisputed."
The videogame, which is the second installment of the UFC and THQ's bestselling videogame title, hits stores on May 25 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.
THQ recently revealed the cover art and announced a host of upgrades to the highly acclaimed videogame game.
The debut 2009 title recently surpassed the 3.5 million mark in sales while earning positive reviews from the media and game players. Forrest Griffin graced the cover of the U.S. version, and Georges St-Pierre was featured on the Canadian version.
While "Undisputed" succeeded in an untapped market last year, the UFC title this year gets some competition from EA Sports, which releases "EA Sports MMA" in late summer. The title, which features some of the biggest names from Strikeforce's and DREAM's rosters, has the backing of one of the videogame industry's biggest players.
THQ, though, is stepping up its game. In a recent interview with gamespot.com, THQ's Omar Kendall discussed some of the new changes for the 2010 title, including slight changes to the submission engine, the ability to create your own fighting style, new camp and career options, and tweaks to the title/tournament and online modes.
The game will also have some new playable characters in 2010.
